I have been reading on another board about eating your first meal after your morning cardio. Some are saying that you should wait at least 30-60 minutes b/c you are still in a fat-burning mode.

Someone else stated that they drink a protein shake with L-glutamine, L-carnitine and BCAA's BEFORE they do cardio. (So they don't burn muscle.)

Just curious what you guys thought about this.
 
I believe the theory behind doing cardio first thing in morning is that your body is depleted of glycogen so if you keep it at a low intensity, it will burn fat. If you are working under the assumption of this theory, you wouldn't want to eat unless you do med-high intensity, which seems counterproductive.

How about drinking that protein drink sans carnitine, with maybe some simple sugar post workout. I don't think you need to wait that long. In fact, IMHO, 60 minutes is pushing it for getting your body replenished.

I've read that, after cardio, you have a 60-90 minute window of continued fat burning. Any sugars/ carbs taken in after cardio will stop this process. If I'm just doing cardio then I have 25-50 g protein and water. If I've lifted and then done cardio I stick to my normal post workout shake.
