Mike Israetel volume reccomendations

I follow him on IG even tho I think he's an ass, but didn't he say that the bulges we see as upper traps are actually the middle traps?

I don't know, I posted this in another topic earlier but all these guys want to reinvent the wheel and I kinda think it's annoying. For decades enormous backs have been build with deadlifts but now all the sudden they do nothing for hypertrophy. We should only train in the 5 to 7 rep range since all the rest will only mess up your cns and blabla.
He used to be great, but has gotten very angry and bitter overreacting over any meaningless post. Even gets angry about people who are complementing or agreeing with him. Most of his revolutionart tips and insight won't make a damn difference.

Speaking of Paul Carter, thoughts on his ig post that shrugs vertically do nothing for the "upper traps"? I tried doing what he says do work the "upper traps" using a machine to do trap rows and feel nothing, like it's not even an exercise when compared to traditional shrugs?

Are there even upper and lower traps or are traps like the chest where it's a single muscle and you can't work upper and lower fibers?

Seems to me like many have used normal fb, bb shrugs to build high traps so what he says may be BS.
Paul “emotional” carter is a cry baby. if you disagree with his post; he starts to cuss you out..

This guy is very immature. I take his posts with a grain of salt

i love seeing the bash paul carter stuff, dude seriously needs a wake up call. There is 0 chance he talks to people that way in the real world and if he does his day will come and get what he deserves. I havent seen him post his super young fiancee in a long time. I guess that ended and probably because of the way he acts lol.

Made it through Law school very easily Big fella. Alot harder than "sports science". He doesnt have a degree in exercise science. But I dont go around calling myself Jurist Doctor ever.

Ahh I was under the impression he had a PHD.

Law school is impressive. I’m working on my DNP and god damn somebody better call me doctor after this. Maybe just mom..but I want at least one every now and then lol

He has a PhD in Sports Physiology.

A zealot, in any form, will always think they are above everyone and feel the need to dictate how others should do things. All while not being able to make anything work in their own lives.

Israetel has said many times it's taken him 21 YEARS (maybe 22 at this point) to achieve the physique he has now. That's absolutely insane. You could take an untrained individual, put them on a good bodybuilding diet / training / gear protocol, and have them likely surpass Israetel in 5 years. Yeah he spent a good portion of that natural but that just shows how poor his training and diet was for so long.
Claiming this shows that you are a genetic freak with no experience in the real world of people and physiques. And as I seem to recall pictures of you, the former is certainly true.

Yeah I highly doubt that if his diet and training had been "better" he would have been more advanced. Genes rule all.

I think maybe a lot of people chiming in in this thread have like zero actual knowledge of Mike and are going on this one statement and that one very crappy picture and I'd encourage anyone that is to do just a little more research. He doesn't "preach" much of anything except full range of motion (that being what you can achieve for your body anyway).

Regarding what was talked about earlier I tried those Paul Carter shrugs ... horizontal row machines 10 different ways I can't feel a damn thing no range of motion compared to them regular shrug style vertical. Has anyone else tried them?

Well he also says sensation doesn't matter so... :p

I get what you are saying, but Mike still looks like shit.

I've been familiar with him for 5-10 years, talked to him when he was still at Temple getting his school work done. Dude has dog shit genetics.
Not taking anything away from him, but he juuust started looking like an actual lifter within the past 2 years. His "competition" photos before that were absolutely terrible. This has nothing to do with his knowledge, super-smart guy. He and I used to go back and forth alot but i respect him.
I just think he preaches his own shit like the gospel and ACTS like the biggest/smartest dude in the room when the vast majority of the time he's giving info to beginning lifters. As soon as he gets into a debate with someone knowledgable, he quickly changes his approach. I've also mentioned this before, i've yet to see 1 person whom he's transformed. His classic physique pro friend Jared was a mutant as a complete natural 5+ years ago. The rest of his "clients" are skinny fat 40 year olds who get in shape for the first time in their life.

Just from seeing his pictures I'd say bad genetics but has some size and low body fat when he diets. Blocky physique with a wide waist so even at a low body fat won't look lean, aesthetic, or athletic.

Israetel is arrogant and his methodology is sub-par. Paul Carter is also a clown. Big Mike Van Wyck fan though hes awesome.

He seems like a cool guy yes. Maybe swears a bit much for my liking but he won me over by recently saying some guys are just big motherfuckers that don't look like bodybuilders because of muscle insertions, shape, etcetera... and that they don't have their place on a BB-stage which I fully agree with.

I immediately recognized myself in that explanation so I instantly liked the guy and started following him. (not that it was ever my dream of being a succesful competitive bodybuilder luckily, I just want to be big and that is perfectly fine for me. I gladly let the stage to people like Flex Wheeler or our own bboy, they actually LOOK like bodybuilders instead of just having very large muscles)

Israetel I can tolerate. I used to follow Carter on IG, but he blocked me because I also followed Israetel. I never said a word against Paul.
Seems he looked at Mike's followers and started blocking people.
That told me all I needed to know about Carter.

Van Wyck can be entertaining as well and he's good at teaching people how to feel their muscles properly which does play some part in development.

Carter would over complicate taking a piss...........

i always leaned into @homonunculus ideas.

I asked one time should I move to fortitude tier 3? (A lot of volume). Scott: “Your effort should dictate your volume”.

Staying 1 rep shy of failure every set and hitting failure 2-3 times a workout on
Last mini sets, I could finish tier 2. I tried to keep that effort on tier 3 and was completely obliterated by the 6th workout.

So my volume cap is tier 2

Yes, Scott is a huge wealth of knowledge. @homonunculus , Doggcrapp, and Lyle McDonald are who I relate and learn the most from when it comes to training. I like Joe Bennett as well for body mechanics, him and Lyle. Not saying there isn't any others, just these are my favorites that I like off the top of my head it took me to type this, lol.

Agreed. Jordan peters and Dusty are also good examples. Even if their training has evolved, they both were DC Originals. Dusty from Dante himself, and I think Scott took JP through the DC training for awhile.

Looking at them now, they don’t do the original DC sets all the time, but you’ll see muscle rounds in Jordan’s training, dc calves, and dusty still does his back off sets almost widowmaker style.

And if you look at these slag iron slingers, they still fall around mike Israel’s minimum effective volume to maximum adaptive volume in a weeks time.

Fortitude tier 2 quad work is 9 sets for the week. 3 load sets, 3 pump sets, 3 MRs. And it’s not fair to count the MRs as one set, as the fatigue and stress has to be worth at least 2 hard sets. So we could assume something like 12 sets a week for quads.
