was watching fox news today.. one of the commentators said "i dont buy into it.. i think they are prosecuting guys with little to no evidence".. they brought up the fact that although a few have cancelled checks as evidence against them, the majority are nothing more than heresay.. another said "i dont think this will be receved well by the public.. you cant accuse someone of something unless the evidence is concrete.. especially sports heros".. the anchor is having "the man" on sunday and said "i have some very hard hitting questions to ask him.. i hope he has better answers than he had in the report"..
after all that one legal analyst kicked me square in the nuts with " some steroids help you recover and some turn you into godzilla".. oh well.. he at least ended it with " i have absolutely no problem with the ones that help with recovery.."..
but the be all of open mindedness was a sportscaster on the radio today who said " look.. they are all doing it.. they are better for ya then beer and cigarettes.. the playing field is level and the best men still won.. who cares.. lets play ball "... seems maybe the public is tired of it after all..

i almost fell off my chair when you said it came from fox news. i am surprised the bush / cheney news machine had the nuts to say it. But god can only hope the general public is tired of this crap. God knows we all are.

This is far from over. These players are going to come out swinging to save their reputation. This can of worms has just been opened.

Yea who the hell is "mitchell" anyhow? A Senator? Is that what I heard?
Seems Like some Old Basterd trying to Make a name for himself:rolleyes:
"The Mitchell report, By senator Mitchell. I Hope it ruins him.

THE BRICK, I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT.. this guy has little proof on most of thses guys.. if i were them i would have a lawyer and very quickly.. he is trying to make a name for himself and this ia a easy way to do it..or at least he thought.. hopefully he will find it a tough road to hoe.. baseball and the anti trust issue is what gave the goverment the "ok" to pursue this.. when ya get in bed with the gov nothing good can or will happen.. a station in st louis has been running a poll with its "sports" listeners and the vast majority are just sick of it and dont want to hear about it anymore.. and what the gov does not realize is that what you are essentially saying with this report to young guys hoping for a baseball career is that you have to do gear.. this will make them pursue it more.. the opposite of what i think they were trying to do.. they should have just let baseball do the testing and see what transpires instead of opening this wound more..

Exscuse my ignorance but, couldn't certain players fire back with slander if there's no real proof?

that is kinda what the foxs news legal analyst said.. he better have more proof then heresay.. which in many cases he does not..

dont know...

how this will turn out.. Barry Bonds can smile a lil bit now that that Mitchells credible, tangible, reliable, unbiased, and well supported evidence shows that other athletes have used performance enhancing drugs. Everything I have heard is fat/skinny out of shape big mouthed radio hosts running their mouths about the athletes and many that r not really surprised by this... this is nothing new, people have know about drugs in baseball for a long time. I am sure glad and proud we spent $20 million dollars of our tax money on this wonderful productive report!!!

gooey

Yes, I don't think the report is being received as well as MCcarrth... I mean Mitchell hoped. From what I read a lot of it is based on hear-say, I did not see nearly as much solid evidence as I expected; as in reciepts, failed drug test etc. And most of the first hand reports he has are from people trying to save themselves from prosecution from steroid crimes not related directly to players. I think it's looking less like a legit report and more like a modern day witch hunt.

In a word....

slander and lots of it......Mitchell should just take a gun to his head and end it.

how come they arent questioning the other leagues, i mean if all the top guys and more are using in baseball, they would be foolish to think the same doesnt happen in other sport. at least there starting to take the stance that its used for recovery mostly.

but cant the athletes say listen, we need this stuff, its not as bad as your making it, we all use it, by no means is it the quick fix or road to the pros, but there is a place for it??

i just wanted to add everyone makes a fortune off these guys, wouldnt they want there atheletes to perform at the highlest levels?

i am waiting for a guy (player) to make the arguement that the grueling schedule of games, training, and joint pain is the "reason".. maybe people would take another view of it.. the AP (san fransico paper) had a retired player who played inthe late 60' to late 70's in a interview.. he said that people are making the wrong assumptions.. that while gaining 20-30 pounds maybe nice whne hitting the ball, it does not make you throw harder and help hand/eye coordination.. he said " i took steroids and it did not get my fastball over 80 mile per hour.. which is where i started.. it did nothing for it".. so maybe the news might...MIGHT.. (NOT HOLDING MY BREATH FOR RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM) be seeing the other side of the story..

exactly....clemens fast ball was mediocre, and its not like it made his curve drop ten feet off the table...

on the other side, if you dont have that stroke already you dont just become a home run hitter.

true story... good points

the only thing that can be argued it it helped them recover better when they got older when their hormones started to decline naturally.

1) All of it is he say she say. There is no proof except MAYBE checks but that could have been for training.

2) A b lot of the players on the list have been out of the league for a long time so who cares?

3) Steroids were not even banned in baseball until a couple years ago.

4) Everyone knows the majority, or close to it, juiced.

The funny thing is Mitchell got most of the "evidence" to accuse all these players from only 2 people (trainers).

David Justis was on the Colin Cowherd show today and totaly backed his name I am sure he will have some legal issues with this deal. What was funny is when he was asked or offered HGH he considered untill he had it in his locker and realized it had to do with needles but said if it was a pill he would have taken it in a heartbeat. All these assholes are looking to hammer guys for making themselves better, like Jose Canseco said juice is a great thing if it is used the right way and not abused, I dont really see any baseballers that are super huge! You cant swing a bat as well when huge, or throw as well. These washed up senators need to figure something else to do with there worthless time. Kreeps

To a man, they should each and all, "lawyer up". Where is the proof? Deny, deny, deny.

Maybe people will become educated about it and opinions will change.

I think people want to believe that you take something and become a huge muscular creature. Believing that is comforting to the average guy because he then has and excuse to sit around and look average.

Joe Average can say, "Well, honey, those guys are all on steroids." Thinking like this takes all the hard work out of the equation. No one wants to accept that they are too lazy and unwilling to be disciplined at the dinner table. Steroids are the great scapegoat.

If the media would stop hyping and glamorizing steroid use and explain the truth along with the beneficial use of hormones, everyone would be better off.

Let's be honest, there are a ton of guys on juice who look like crap. If it was the miracle hyped in the media, everyone would be tremendously muscular, superiorly preforming athletes.

Well said JT.. I couldn't agree with you more.

I heard one baseball insider on the radio yesterday say that you're so worried about getting a reliable urine test in place that'll detect HGH but that the players have already moved on to other things. He said he knows players that are now using IGF and Insulin.
