yea mack i think you misunderstood you stated you had to use same amount of insulin for grits and oats so i was assumin if you used certain carbs you woudl have to adjust insulin ,,

I am very familar with the Gis even the way you cook carbs affects its g i if you didnt already know for rice i just notice it does nothing in terms of muscle gains for me oats are fine i was just having a lil fly by day flu because im fine now and have been eating oats all day...

That's all good iTrain.

When people can keep an open mind, coversation is the reward.
No such thing as "too much" knowledge.

Not only does cooking methods change the GI, protein before changes it even more. It is the best way. Especially for me.

I love steel cut oats and eat them 3-4 times a day. I just recently switched them over to the grits. Saves me about 20 grams of fat a day. I would prefer the oats any day, but dialing in for a show, you just have to make some changes.

Torn,

It varies day to day. I try to eat as much as possible and as often as possible. At least 70 grams 5 x day, minimum. I really don't track my carbs, almost never. They are all slow releasing long acting carbs, no simple carbs.
Yams, whole grain pasta, rice, Eziekiel, grits, steel cut oats and some from veggies.

I do track fats and protein all the time. I don't do any carb depletion or carb loading, even the last week before a show.

I do the same thing ED for the last 4-6 weeks and as long as I'm getting leaner, which I always do because of a.) The gear and peps - I let them do all their magic and b.) the added practice posing makes a big difference.

Depending on conditioning, I do cardio based on the mirror. Now I do two 20 mins session, the first is moderate HIIT, the second session is my weighted-
15 degree incline= treadmill walk. If anything I may actually have to back off and eliminate the first session.

I will do whatever it takes to bring something crazily ripped and dry come game(s) day.

New Split

Hey,

Just a quick update.
After my 2 week CNS routine which I need to do every 6 weeks or so
because the intensity level of my high volume MTST is so high, I changed
over to a 5 on, 1 off schedule. I hit 3 bodyparts twice in the sequence.
I actually feel really good, gained 2 pounds and lost 1% BF during Feb.

So, I'm hoping to keep the train chuggin' along.
I was doing 2 20 minute HIIT cardio sessions ED, but have changed that as well.
My am cardio is moderate HIIT on Lifecycle 20 mins.
My afternoon session is my weighted-treadmill deal for 20 mins.
Sometimes I purposely eliminate the am session and rotate the added weight in my back pack 5lbs, next time 15 pounds, next time 10 pounds, next time 20 pounds, next time just bodyweight. Days off when needed for leg recovery.

Great for calves, hams, glutes and fat burning.

Give it a shot, it will stirr up the beehive.

I go months without weighing in but starting Jan 1, I now weigh myself and "target check" my BF%. March 1, I weighed 172. Knowing my body,
I'd say I would measure right around 8%. Currently running HRT 50mg ED,
100mcg Ipam and 100mcg LR3 bilaterally, both Mon-Fri. That's it. :lightbulb:

Since the True Pea is so cheap, I've upped my protein to around 200 grams/day just using the pea, plus another 25ish from veggies.
Feeling good, getting a little bit grainier looking. I'm right on track with my plan.

I both agree and disagree.
When I started my journey, I was probably eating maybe a 100 grams per day, because basically that's all I could eat because of zero appetite.
But I still started to see some changes in my body, even at 100 grams.
So I upped it to 140ish because I was adding muscle, then to 180 and now at 200ish. As I add more density I will add more protein.

My thoughts on that are too much of anything will turn to fat, because I had so little muscle left when I started (-25lbs lean).

I will for the first time actually "grow into a show".

Back in the day I was always in the 300-350 range from all sources.
Truthfully, In hindsight, I think I should have spent my money on other things rather than all the protein that easily cost me $25,000 for a few years.:banghead: Live and Learn.

If I knew of pea islolate back then, I would be way better off today.

Hey Bros,

You guys know I've been at this for years and have competed many, many times. I'm a dinasour.

But I started to doubt myself. Remember, because of my choice to build my own home dungeon and train by myself, I only have "my eyes". I have always had a keen eye, but like I said, I was doubting myself.

So I contacted my friend JM and sent him a few pics (which I hate doing),
but needed an expert's eye and a "brutally honest" opinion. I knew he would be totally honest with me. (Thanks JM! :))

He gave me the green light :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

So, I'm in-it-to win it. And with a new optimism, I'm running full throttle for the next 16 weeks, with 1 or 2 tune-up shows along the way.

I will try my absolute best, and keep you posted.

And I was not BSing you. You are going to put a walloping on alot of peeps in that class at Masters nats..or NA's..whatever show you do. You should do Master's...lots of people there to meet...like ME in the over 40 class :)
