Any dose can have a beneficial effect. However it's going to be different for everyone but 100mg should be enough for most people. Although it all depends upon what exactly you expect from it. 100mg per week has helped my joints but 200mg is much better. 1mg per pound of bodyweight sounds about right. However if you are after muscle building then you probably want to dose it a bit higher and most people would need to be using at least 200mg and closer to 3-400mg for noticeable effects. If you want to use the lowest effective dose I would start at about 150mg and see how you are and adjust if needed.
