My HDL came back low as well (low 30s). Doc prescribed me 1000mg Niaspan daily. Will let you know how bloodwork comes back (couple weeks or so). Doc seemed confident there would be a remarkable change.
Thanks. My doctor said he didn't want to give me presecription Niacin just yet.
I have to come back in a month after another blood test for my "creatinine" (sp?), the kidney score. It came back at 1.4 (IIRC) and my doctor attributed that to my taking too much creatine.
I dont think Niacin helps that much compared to fish oil,vitd,etc... the flushing red look with the added stress to the liver doesnt seem worth it for a measly what %5-10 increase or so in HDL
