O/T Red Light camera ticket ?

Does anyone know if you get a camera ticket in Ca if u get points on your record. I know im gonna get the ticket cuz the light flashed right in front of me, but i've been reading mixed reviews about points. Some say points will not go on your record, so say they will. Problem with this is, how will they know its "me" whos driving. For ex, what if my buddy was driving my car and got the ticket, I surely am not gonna get points on my record and insurance rates go up, so how can they prove just by my face or whatever photo they have that its actually me driving. Anyone know if this is just a fine?

Heck, ive beat 2 tickets.One by manned laser and the other by radar. You plead not guilty and they set another court date where you have to come back and the officer has to show up. It appears that quite often the officer never even shows up and you get off. You should be able to fight this ticket one way or the other. Not sure what they do if you plead not guilty, as there is not an officer in this case.

This is true, I know nothing of CA or the point system, but we have the cameras here in WA too. There are lawyers everywhere that specialize in getting people out of tickets. Usually costs between $200-$350 (more expensive than the ticket but it wont go on your record).

Also, I have a few buddies who have gotten ticketed via the cameras, all of them have said they had their car up for sale during that time and many people have test driven it (and thus no idea who was actually driving it at the time). If you go with the "buddy was driving thing" I have heard they just make you provide his info. Anyway, all of them have gotten out of the ticket using the for sale trick.

to my knowledge you wont get points... and i say this from personal experience lol.. i got one of those damn tickets my first month of living in CA and best part was the car was registered to my dad back in NC and he got the picture of my face LOL... sent it to me with the bill for like $328... bastards.. i just paid it and moved on....

If it's in Southern California, you will get 2 options: pay the fine and you will get points or you can pay the fine+plus 75-80 bucks for online traffic school and it won't go on your record.

My fine was like $325 + 75 for the online traffic school but it's not on my record and insurance didn't go up.

yeah, in SD the local PD posts on their website where exactly the cameras are located at in the city.

my friend has a program on his phone that shows you a map of the city and has cop car icons where DUI checkpoints are, and shows all the red light cameras, talk about one step ahead of them~! ill try n find out what program that is. its like gps shit, I Didnt believe it until i saw it for my own eyes!!! dodged a few bad roads

idk about in CA...but in NC i think they outlawed those cameras. but when they were in use...i dont think points would go on your license because it was a third party company running them, not the state.

but i cant speak for CA....

yes im in socal, but I already have points which wont let me do traffic school, but maybe this is diff. Does it matter how many past points you have?

I just read somewhere saying they usually have to send you a notice within a week that you got the ticket. Its been over 3weeks now and nothing, so I think i got off.

I bought some of this Phantom Plate Spray a few months back, and it works. I test ran the light 5 times and got flashed each time. Never got a ticket. Oh, here in Texas, a face pic isnt required. It doesnt go on your record either, you just pay the fine.

Wow a month, well usually most traffic related things are 30days. U usually have 30days to pay fines, 30days to get items fixed,etc.. so I guess i'll cross my fingers and hope I pass 30days.

Same in AZ with a 3rd party running them. I've gotten my fair share of those damn tickets and i've never answered a single one of them. Here in AZ they try to serve 1 out of 100 people that don't answer and they tried to serve me. i just didn't answer the door to anyone I didn't know. they tried it 3 times and never left the paperwork. Also no points on license.

Be careful of the "that really isn't me in the pic" excuse. while it may not look like you in that tiny pic that they send with the violation, when you go in to fight it, they have it blown up on a screen in better quality, clearly showing that it's you!

Here in NY they don't give points because there is no way to prove that you were the driver even if it's your car. The one who gets the ticket is the owner of the vehicle.
