"Osteophyte" Bone spurs

Have any of you gentlemen ever experienced osteophytes on your knees and what happened. Did they give nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs? tell you to ice it, strecthing etc. Or did any of you have them surgically removed? and what was the down time after surgery. And were you able to be back up and running normal after a certain amount of healing time?

Any input on this would help.

I wish they'd find something to cure or at least subside arthritis - got it pretty bad on my right hand
