He has a huge campaign war chest. The Sunday Tea party raised more than $6 million – a sum that may be the largest single-day fundraising total in U.S. history. I see bumper stickers and signs everywhere in my area. He seems to have a very enthusiastic following, yet he seems to be stuck in the single digits in the polls... what's the problem?

I think you would have to look at who is being polled. I doubt that all those polls are unbiased. It would be very easy to bias one. Another factor might be the fact that Ron Paul supporters are much more vocal and passionate about their candidate, and so they draw more attention even though their numbers arent so big?

$6 million isn't much at all in the grand scheme of things. He isn't going to get any money from the Republican party so he is at a big disadvantge. A lot of the ads that you see on the TV aren't paid for by the candidate but by the parties. I don't think the republican party thinks that he is electable so they won't back him or spend any money on him and a lot of the other candidates are very wealthy and paying for everything themselves. Romney is very rich and his wife owns ketchup and he is paying for most of his stuff himself. Unfortunately, it's the way it is. Not to mention people are lazy and stupid and name recognition is big

it's all about publicity

the biggest thing i've noticed is that he gets no publicity. the news people talk about Clinton and Obama every friggin day and Romney is almost as frequently mentioned. I have not heard one word on the news about Ron Paul. Nor have i seen him mentioned in the papers. No tv ads either.
I mentioned him to my father the other day, and he said "who's that, never heard of him".
i fear that if Mr. Paul doesn't start advertising and working with his p.r. people to get better name recognition he won't have a chance in hell...

News

You have to look at who owns the media in this country and what they have to lose by having somebody with the intregity of Ron Paul in a position of leadership. Quite simply they ( the media) are told what to say and how to say it to steer the American people in the direction they want.

Lets take it a step further

Well when Israel wants us to push the button on another Arab country (Iran, then probably Syria after that) we all know what Ron's answer going to be right?
And like you said Tom we know who owns our mainstream media (And our country for that matter). If Ron ever got in there it's most likely result in a huge battle, the neo cons, Zionists, and big corporate monies are so deeply entrenched in our "Democracy", that it would take a miracle (Or full scale revolution) for any big changes to be made, and if ya rock the boat too much, well we remember JFK right?
I prey more sheeple wake up, because only someone in a deep sleep or a complete waterhead wouldn't see what's happened to our quality of life in the last few years.
Ok enough soap box, all we can do is prey, get the word out, and vote.

You first have to change the way america has been led by the nose to believe this country is simply run on a 2 tier basis. Dems and repub's. This country has so much more to offer the american public but you wouldn't know it by what the media portrays to you. The old adage is when you're in a dog fight it's easier to fight off one enemy rather then 3 or 4. And that's what the Dems and Repubs are afraid of. It is so easy to call your enemy all kinds of names, but when 2 or 3 other enemies call you back the same name you can't bounce back. And thus the powers to be keep it at a 1 on 1 basis. Makes it much easier to study one apponent rather then 3 or 4.

This is big. Additionally, his name is sometimes taken out of a poll so instead of choosing from 9 candidates, they only leave you with 8 candidates. Its serious bullshit how some are trying to keep him down, thats why we have to spread the word as much as possible and educate as much as we can.

This round RP recieved about 58000 donations and 25000 of those were new first time donors. Imagine if each of those 58000 convinced just 1 person to vote and donate for Paul, that would give you 116000 supporters. Imagine if you repeat it again, now you have 232000.

Ron Paul's campaign is experiencing exponential growth while the front runners tear themsevles apart. If we continue to build this army, theres no stopping him. He'll have the money and the people. And with that, the media cant say shit.

TOM

Tom hit it right on the head. Nothing wil change that unfortunately

I agree, Tom hit the nail on the head.

The fact is, the news media is backing Obama and Clinton, whereas Fred Thomas is being backed by Hollywood.

I see it all of the time, political leaders promise you the world if you vote for them. But once in office, they don't recall saying such a thing. Do you remember someone once saying, "READ MY LIPS, NO NEW TAXES!!"

There is a hell of a lot more than just one on one. It is mainly a two horse race in the dems side between Hillary and Barak, Edwards and Biden may carry a couple of states but they won't get the nomination and there is a few more running on the Republican side you have Romney, Guiliani, McCain, Paul, Tancredo and Thompson. Those are just the major ones, there are probably another 6 or so seeking the Republican nomination. You see stuff on TV for Romney all the time because he is a multi millionaire and is paying for all of it himself. The other candidates aren't even close to as wealthy as him so they have to watch their money a little more closely. If Paul can get more money and do more national ads and get better name recognition he could have a chance. He is against the war and isn't close to Bush. Which are things that a Republican is going to have to be to get elected this year.

What makes you think Israel wants to "push a button" on another Arab state? When was the last time Israel invaded another country unprovoked? I wouldn't care if Israel bombed the shit out of every one of those countries because you know if those countries could do it to Israel they would. And who exactly are you referring to that "owns" the media? I know JFK was assassinated but please enlighten me with facts about why he was assassinated, not speculation or conspiracy theory. I also think you are giving Ron Paul far too much credit. Even if he does get elected, he isn't going to change everything. He isn't going to rock the boat too much. He still has to play ball with the rest of the politicians. Especially if he ever wants to pass anything on his agenda and if his approval rating ever got low he could forget about ever passing anything. The Presidents power comes with his approval rating.

In a dictatorship you get 1 choice, in our democracy we get 2...go figure.

Oh by the way, those 2 choices, are really one...lol

I got news for ya, Israel kicked the indigenous people out of Palestine that have been living there for hundreds and some thousands of years, and continue to this day, with our help bulldoze down people’s homes that they have lived in for generations. When did Israel invade another country unprovoked? Bud, you've got to be kidding, you must be talking about Iran right? But I am sure that you've been subjected to lifelong brainwashing by the "Media" to portray Arabs as less than human, all terrorists, etc. etc. right? That would explain your lack of that American "Compassion" we always tout. I am also banking that your chicken hawkish remark about bombing all those countries comes from a life where you've never had humbling of an air raid siren making you duck in for shelter, having your home bombed flat, or loosing someone to war.

Good point OC

Unfortunately here in America we as a society have been programmed to accept comforting lies over painful truths sometimes. I think that is why television is called "programming"...lol.

$$$$$$$$$$$

He doesn't have enough money to be a threat...

Rotty, what I meant was america sees one democrat and one republican on the final leg of the race. Most american have no clue just how many different parties there truely are. I know many of times I mentioned the word "lebertarian" and folks were like "huh"? "whats that"? It's a damn shame that american doesn't do more to teach our kids of ALL the political parties that we have here in america.

175 parties have their name registered for use in England alone. Here in the US they teach there are 2. Democrat and Republican, that's a big shame!

OC, may I ask when did this take place? When did "WE" ( i am assuming are americans) did we bull doze the palestinians out of the Bank area?
(just a question)

BOOMSHAKER

How many of those other parties get air time in the media? That is the bottleneck, and it is meant to be that way.
