Hey guys, this Q was prob more suitable for the beginers forum:rolleyes: but im here now . Is glucose powder suitable for my post work out drink or would there be something more suitable?I just dont hear many people mention it in their diets? Thanks .
 
use waxy maize starch found on trueprotein.com. Basically the same thing as vitargo. Its the best PWO carbohydrate to use.
 
Is there a reason it is better than pure glucose powder ? Not doubting just trying to understand .
 
Well, im sure some of our older guys can explain in even better detail than me, but to sum it up, Waxy Maize repleneshes glycogen stores faster than dextrose or any other carb. It also has a very high molecular weight, and low osmolarity, meaning it passes through the stomach very fast and gets absorbed by the intestines quicker than other PWO carbs. WM can also help you absorb other nutrients with it better (creatine, bcaa's, etc.) since it helps them pass through the stomach quicker and get absorbed better into the muscles. Waxy Maize is also sugar free and a complex carb, therefore it causes no bloating, and can be used when dieting. If you cant get a hold of waxy maize in Australia, vitargo is essentially the same thing.
 
Thanks for the info , I did see vitargo in my local health store which is what made me question my choice. You say it is a complex carb, will it release quik enough to take advantage of my post w/o " window of opp" ?
 
yes, it passes through the stomach and is absorbed by the intestines faster than any other simple carbohydrate or carb in general. Therefore it replenishes your glycogen stores faster than any other simple carb or any carbohydrate.
