Protein/cardio question

I do cardio 3 days a week after i train... I have a question regarding protein timing.. should i take my carb/protein shake immediatly after lifting prior to cardio? or should i wait till im done with my cardio? FWIW my cardio usually involves fast walking on a steep incline for 30-40 mins, so i can drink as im starting my cardio (which is what ive been doing).
 
Personally I wait until after I've finished everything. I wanna see what everyone else does now!!
 
Personally, I do not think it matters, but either or would be fine...do not think it will make or break you. Also, if anything that is good time to get some kind of glycogen replacement (carbohydrate) sooner than later, that is if you go that route with eating and macro breakdown. Then just grab some protein when you leave the gym or get home.

I just have my meals ready and eat them as the day goes along (I know what I will be eating and have it ready 95% of the time, especially when prepping)...my hunger usually signals every 2-3 hours, especially now. Usually, a meal falls right after my workout and I eat what is next on the list that Alex provided me with...do not worry Alex I am eating all my planned meals when my body says, "time to eat, feed me!"
 
I would wait till after, but yeah it wont make much difference. I dont think there would be a whole lot of digestion and assimilation during the time period of your cardio, and blood flow is directed more to the working skeletal muscles than it is to the digestive sytem while you are exercising.

No, it should do just the opposite since blood flow is directed toward the working muscles and not the digestive system. There is only so much blood to go around.

Thats what ive always thought. When i have to do my cardio after a workout i wait until i drive home to eat anything to kind of settle down. Ive noticed an upset stomach when i drink a mix during workout or DIRECTLY after (talking stepping off the treadmill and having a shake).

Yep, upset stomach is a symptom. the food just kinda sits in there. Might as well wait til you get home. Its funny how people freak out about eating or taking insulin at the exact right time. 15 or even 30 minutes isnt going to make a bit of difference, and yet you have guys bringing prefilled insulin syringes into the gym and shooting up in the bathroom stall. Just wait till you get home. Eat and do whatever else it is that you need to do there.
 
I always wondered about that. Good to know that I've been eating after my morning weights and cardio. I actually was going to start taking a shake right after the weights, THEN hit cardio. Thanks guys.
