You live in a city below sea level, where are your mass evacuation plans? Where are the bottled water reserves in case an event like this happens? Did you bother to check that your leveys could only withstand a level 3 hurricane? Did you discuss with GREYHOUND, a privately owned compoany, about using their busses before a tragedy like this happened? If you think Bush does not put forth the same effort towards black people in times of peril like this, or if these rappers feel this way, why would they not get off their ass and do something about it themselves, knowing that no help would be arriving. I am tired of hearing about how some white people hold down, dont help, etc..people of color. It seems to me from my observations on the news that some of your people enjoy these times of strife. It gives them a chance to rape and pillage and shoot and loot each other. Now who is holding who down?

I'm no fan of bush by any means, but i agree with what you just said.

JW

phil i agree

Everyone is so ready to BLAME everyone else .
blameing the Presedent . is a copp out

if anyone should take a look at themselves is LOCAL goverment , if Local politications would have made the Levies more able to handle this kinda storm(BY DOING THEIR JOB AND GETTING THESE THINGS ON THE BALLETS )we would not even be talking about this , if you knew you lived in a below sea level bowl on the coast , would you not as Mayor have some exiting plan ? my Lord i can even figure that out
and that being said handing that mayor etc. a bunch of money will lead to one thing ONLY "Coruption" at its highest....

oh and common sense tells me when 67% of the population is african american, then hence many african americans will be the majority of what we see in trouble on TV

dont complain send money or drive there and volenteer plain and simple

next time the Goverment says "Evacuate " ... leave !!

Good point ohil and TT. Plans should have been in place already. this may be the biggest they have had, but it sure wasnt the first.

just wanted to add in this little quip i added to my sig.

WHAT HAPPENED TO AMERICA?....WHEN DID WE BECOME THE LAND OF THE LAZY AND THE HOME OF GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS?

Exactly, Phil. Unfortunately though, white people are to blame for every problem in the world. We make up a little over 10% of the Earth's population, but we are still to blame for EVERY other races problems. Don't you know it was a group of angry white people that caused that hurricane? We are the world's minority, but son of a bitch, we're powerful.

ok

did Bush order the storm ?

i feel horable watching the suffering

BUT

the storm was monday and went till tuesday and the water was rising etc till thursday and by friday the Govtdid get help and today the help is sufficiant
so if the storm was so bad that they said to evacuate ,why would you stay ? and why would you stay without a small 3 day supply of water ,food and clothers and maybe get to highest ground you afford to get to, but atleast have 3 days of water food etc ..
am i missing something ? thats common sense , i have in safe place and i live in calif(earthquake central ) ...the only people i see not able to do that is infants and elderly and i see perfectly "able people "on tv that did not listen, pay attention,
or think things through at the beginning of every hurracanie season ....

hello folks ....

Hmm, so most of the states with a lower percentage of white people are less intelligent and voted for Bush? And most of the majority white states are smarter and voted for Kerry?

That little site is idiotic.

It's disgusting how incompetent this man was in carrying out his duties.

Then instead of coordinating relief efforts he spends his time covering his ass and blaming everyone but the person most responsible, himself.

Your statements apply to some people that remained, but you are missing the much larger picture. New Orleans is a lower class poor city to begin with. Many of these people had no means with which to evacuate. They simply struggle to get by day to day to begin with, let alone have some way to get out of town. That is why so many people went to the Superdome and Convention Center, they had no resources to go anywhere else.

As far as blaming Bush, I don't think anyone is blaming Bush for what happened; instead they are blaming him for his reaction(or lack of it). How is it that we can go into 3rd world countries and take over a city and put in temporary hospitals overnight; yet we can't drop bottled water for our own people to survive? Why is Bush out here in Arizona on Monday speaking about Medicare when he should be in New Orleans finding out first hand what is going on.? Why is it that when they were going to take the feeding tube out of Terry Schiavo, they called back an emergency meeting of Congress on a Sunday night of a holiday weekend and convened within 2 hours, yet when thousands are suffering it takes 3 days to call back Congress? We live in the richest and most resourceful country of the world yet we cannot find a way to get people minimum food and water requirements in a timely manner during crisis.

I think that people would be reacting different if we didn't have the resources or means with which to help immediately. However, seeing that we do and that lower class people are simply not a priority for Bush is what angers so many people.

I agree with Phil. I keep seeing the Mayor slamming the Feds. If you live in a city below sea level in the gulf coast...why isn't there plan in place. The city knew the storm was coming and had a mandatory evacuation for the residents more than a day prior. Why didn't the Mayor use school buses or something to help get the poor people out of the city?

your wrong

i see the whole picture !these people could not get 3 dayz of food and water together ? they had to steal guns and tv's , they could not take a bus out of town ? they had lots of options ,maybe not the best choice but they had choices never the less. IMO responding has been great
Did you really think rescuers where going to be sent in tuesday while storm and water was at its worst ? like common sense tellls me . unlike earthqukes which we here in calif , we have to be ready for 365 dayz ayear ,but when you have a week advace warning by the govt ,to leave and you dont leave i think people with sense would have collected 3 dayz of supplys ,
so tuesday ,wedsday and thursday they could at least survive till friday and sat when most of the help was able to get in and set up..instead of expecting "Big Brother " to hold your hand ..
i live in earthquake zone ,so im prepared for 3 -5 dayz if everything was ruined ..hence if i lived in a bowl below sealevel and hurricane was approching i would be able to get ready ,has nothing to do with rich or poor .

terry shivio has nothing to do with anything ! not sure what your point is besides you yourself not agreeing with Bush .

a lot couldnt afford it. i agree with the stealing tv's and crap though. steal FOOD!!

if something happened here, and i knew it was coming, depending on how close to payday it was would determine if i could afford to stock up on supplies. and if i did stock up, i sure as shit wasnt gonna pay my electric bill and car insurance. LMAO (although its not really funny)

when i say i live paycheck to paycheck, i mean it... half the time, i pay my bills and i have $7 in my account to last me 12 days or so.... how far can i get on $7 ? that's good for 60 miles.... if i dont get stuck in traffic (and the traffic was 3 hours FYI)

for most people... they have a few hundred on hand they can pull out of the bank and make it somewhere or stock up, if they dont do EITHER... then i wonder WTF their thinking... do one of the other... that i dont get

and the buses were filled up early... what happens when you have a bag and get to the station and you're turned away... then what?

Phil, actually New Orleans did a drill several years ago and based the drill on a cat 5 hurricane. they knew the areas where they were lacking and what they needed to do to prepare for such a disaster. But the leaders of the community chose not to fully prepare themselves. the FD has been begging for more mass casualty training and equipment but the city fathers kept turning them down. It wasn't until the FD took it upon themselves to put in for federal grants so they could buy more equipment. then the city found out how much money the FD was getting in federal grants and decided to cut that amount out of their normal opperating budget.

these residents can only blame themselves since they stayed there after they were told to leave and the city administration for not taking the lessons learned in their drill seriously. President Bush has nothing to do with this!!! (not that I'm a fan of his, but its time to point fingers at the right people for a change.)

read my post just before yours. a lot of people could not afford to leave!! true, some chose not to leave for whatever reason (personally i think they're idiots if they could have left but didnt), but some could not.... shit, if something hit where i am in a about a week.. unless i full tank of gas... i wouldnt be able to leave (without borrowing from a friend ect)..

imagine you're a single parent, 3 kids (dont start a flame war over this topic) ... just paid your bills... "oh yeah, you need to evacuate"... umm... i have no cash, no car, no family... what are you gonna do???
