Raw Egg Consumption...

Every now and then I have raw eggs in my shake, for convenience. But it seems that there is no reason besides risking my health. I had a theory that if I drank raw eggs that my body could get the most "complete protein" because it kept all of its bonds, including the tertiary structure. After reading for a while it seems that it is almost pointless to do so, because either way the bonds are destroyed either by cooking or in the stomach. Just thought this might help some people out in case another raw egg debate comes up...
 
Cant say it is an everyday thing for me, but I do enjoy not having to eat and just suck down some eggs... I put a little vanilla and splenda and its really not that bad..
 
So many raw egg threads. Avidin must be neutralized in order for your body safely digest the protein and to utilize the amino acids.

The stories are that avidin binds to Biotin, which can cause a biotin deficiency... Is that what you mean by safely?
 
To much egg whites will make you grow feathers
 
If time allows I always try to cook them. Whenever I don't I get bad bloating and gas. Not to mention bathroom problems and a tummy ache. Anyone know why this is? They are pasturized.

I think those "egg beaters" in the carton are becoming more popular, zero cholesterol 99% pure eggs. I dont know? Some people are lactose intolerant and some have a sensitivity to eggs. Its too rich for some peoples stomach, oh I mean tummy. :)

Its not a big deal.....your body just can't use it though like previously mentioned.
You guys can look up AVIDINE for yourself.

There's a reason why people buy pasteurized egg whites.....
 
I get my eggs straight from the farm. No hormones or antibiotic used. I take the eggs, scramble them, fry 'em in butter, then I eat them. Damn they're good.

I used to get them straight from the farm too! They seemed better to be, than the store bought. Either way I wish I could still get them.
 
The guy I get mine from said that the eggs in the store can sit in cold storage for up to 6wks before they get to the store. I've gotten eggs that went from the chicken to getting washed to a carton just before i got them. Now that's fresh!

Man, that sounds really tasty to me. I wish I had access to eggs that fresh. You are right, the eggs in the grocery store were laid many weeks ago.
