Do you guys utilize those? In the past I just added more sets instead of doing RP, Dropsets etc.

I´m thinking now of adding some RP/dropsets. I am a low volume, high intensity guy(like 6-12 sets per bodypart per week).

Do you find them to be really beneficial instead of just adding a few sets?
 
I don't utilize rest pause in my current training, but I do utilize Dr Scotts Muscle Rounds from Fortitude Training at times. I do not mix them with my straight sets though, I reserve them for specific situations. Why do you feel like you need to add them to your training?
 
In my opinion rest pause is far more effective than additional fully rested volume.

RP allows you to go beyond the point of failure, forcing adaption.

Adding more volume after a rest is just extra volume.

Drop sets can also bring you beyond failure but I don't they no they are as efficient.

I’m with you man. Absolutely love Muscle Rounds. Very intense, very fun and they come at a lower fatigue cost than a rest pause set. Easily my favorite set type/intensity technique.

That being said i would use RP or add one set to some exercises but only at the end of a training cycle before a deload
RP and extra volume are going to eat into recovery when done week after week after week

So use them sparingly

Is it me or you just make this shit overcomplecated things that are simple AF. I never thought twice if i should add a set or intesyfiers, ill just do it. Somtimes if i feel like i got more in me i'll just kill myself and i can't imagine to even think over that twice. The goal is to leave the gym with additional stress then we put on ourselfs before. How you achive it is personal and sytuation dependent thing. It's obious that you are not killing yourself with rp/dr etc when the recovery is lacking and you are 7days before the show. But if you are in calories surplas, just work fuc*ing hard, eat your meals and sleep as much as you can. I don't get it. You can say I'm being picky but im just a simple man, and especially now working with Luki i see how i overcomplicated things over the years. I've now making the best progress of my life by not making anual decisions over a stupid things, just make it simple and repeatable day in and day out. Stop thining, start doing. This is how i see it... You can now crucified me.
 
Only straight sets. I see no reason to accumulate more fatigue and muscle damage and less effective reps.
In the gym we are doing one thing:creating a stimulus.

Volume and mechanical tension are the drivers of growth. How am I going to get the most of both?

I used to be an out beyond failure guy. I grew from it but since throwing out the intensifiers and upping the volume my old nagging injuries have started to heal more and my recovery is much better. I'm also not getting random colds here and there.
If I could go back to when I was 17 I would've never trained with high intensity failure and beyond
 
Do you enjoy them?

I often throw in stuff like RP/DC sets/Myos.

Why? Because I think they are fun. For instance yesterday I did BW dips at the end of my chest workout using the DC approach (RP). Rest of the workout was straight sets.

The only thing I wonder about, as ´science´ says(I know science isn´t everything but still) that there isn´t really a point going to beyond failure. Like 1-2 reps in reserve gives the same stimulus vs less fatigue. I believe @luki7788 also said this.
 
Rest pause works very well for me. Helped me bring my chest and delts up significantly.

man, no offense, but each of your posts shows one thing - you overcomplicate everything

Read what @TeaMan wrote and take it to heart and start doing more and thinking less

Couldn’t have said it better. I don’t calculate it, care if I have a “deload” (which I’ve never intentionally planned… ever), anything like that. If I feel good and like I want to add an intensifier, I’ll do one. I don’t understand why so many people seem to think the body and training is so black and white.

For example

100kg bench press 5 set of 10 reps with 1 min rest between sets

And instead raising weight i lower the rest

So from 1 min to 50 sec to 40 sec etc

Same. I've been able to progressively add more weight and or reps each time, and longer using RP sets. And IMHO that is what we should all strive for progressive overload.

I tried it. Good way and would save my joints... but i hate checking the time between sets all the time.

I find it best to do only one drop set per exercise for the very last set of that exercise. Drop sets are more fatiguing than rest pause but I find them more user friendly on the joints and tendons. And the pump you get is amazing!
