Sleep Apnea - Alternative Tx

I paid nothing. That price covers three different items implanted and the procedure itself
Good to know!!! Yeah I’m not paying $80K+!!!! I’ll continue with my CPAP if that the case.

Question, you need a remote to activate before sleep correct? So if you forget the remote on a trip your screwed? Or is this not accurate?

The remote looks like a large key fob. And yes if you forget that it would be like forgetting your CPAP.

It certainly doesn't hurt to see what if anything insurance May cover. And for veterans they're slowly starting to implement this through the VA as well

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions for me. Seems there’s other folks on the board that would like to venture into this as well.

Another question for you, how many API’s did you average before using a CPAP? Mine was near 100/hour.

Also, with you using your CPAP what was your average API’s/hour?

Last one, with the new Inspire implanted did your events stay similar to what they were when using the CPAP? Possibly increase or decrease?

Again, thanks for taking the time to elaborate!!!

Seems to be, TRT induces OSA even though there’s not really conclusive proof. I thought I read somewhere that exogenous Testosterone dosages can build additional tissue in the throat over time.

Some studies say that upon cessation of exogenous testosterone that OSA goes away on its own. Who knows if any of this holds weight, but it’s not gonna stop me from using exogenous testosterone.

I’ll be using a CPAP for life until I’m ashes in a trash can somewhere!

Lol yea sane here on test but I had apnea as a 160 lb young Marine, that said I did and do have a huge neck so I think that’s the thing my doc did say no amount of lifestyle change would. Fix mine and I’m in the mild group 12-15 per hour

IMG_20230406_134539.jpg this is the remote. And yes if you forget it then it would be like forgetting your CPAP. It has a graph on the back that goes from 0 to 10 as far as the intensity needed to move the tongue while asleep.

When mine was recalibrated after my follow-up sleep study it had to be reset beyond the strongest level on the back. Basically adding four more bars of intensity. That's how much it would take to move my tongue while sleeping in order to breathe properly.

Damn so you gotta feel like total ass for 2-3 months? Am I understanding that correctly? Why on earth would they want to put someone through that? I don’t think I’d make 2-3 months.

I got an old Airsense 10 that utilizes the old 3G/LTE communications. So I can use this during that period if worse comes to worse. It doesn’t communicate to anyone anymore. I upgraded recently to the Airsense 11 in order to have the Bluetooth capability again.

On the BMI index I’m like a 32/34. Obviously that index is for your average person that doesn’t sling iron around. My docs just stopped giving me the BMI paperwork since it doesn’t apply to me. I’m curious as to what hoops they’ll put me through.

Cage
Yes the BMI is for the general population.
