Hey guys quick question , this might be dumb but while doing squats it seems im gaing alot of size at the top but the middle and lower look like crap? I'm doing Razorcuts workout and i have made mad gains as far as weight ex.prior 225x10 now 310x10 and i'm not talking half squats, ass 2 the floor! now i know that foot pos. is a big deal they are 1.5 in to 3.0in wide, it seems as though my upper and inner quads are growing but not the mid or lower WHY??? also ever third work out i do 4 sets of leg press feet together now that is gonna work or bring out the sweep right? not leg ext. are out due to my toren acl but squats and leg press dont bother my knee PLEASE HELP
 
there are a number of things that could be the cause of this. One for example could be just the genetic build of you thighs, some people have naturally better shaped legs, i myself have to scrape for every cm i get. Foot placement does matter, but your build may be out of your control, just aquire what you can.
 
I agree that genetics has a big role. I have the exact same problem. Or should I say had? What I did was incorporate leg presses on squat day but but my feet low on the platform. It forces you to push from the tops of your quads and lower toward the knee without bringing the much larger muscles of the glutes and upper thighs into play. I tried extensions but didn't seem to get as good a result as I did from hard pressing.

SQUAT

I HAVE NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM BUT I SEEM TO OF BLASTED THROUGH THAT STICKY SPOT AND I SEE THE SIZE STACKING ON A FEW THINGS TO DO THAT HAVE WORKED FOR ME IS FIRST SPLIT THE LEG DAY UP INTO THREE DIFFERENT DAYS I DO QUADS ON MON, DEADLIFTS ON WED AND STIFFIES ON FRI. THEN TAKE TWO DAYS OFF(SAT&SUN) HIT QUADS AGAIN HEAVY GET A GOOD SQUAT PARTNER SOMEONE THAT WILL PUSH YOU. I HAD THE HARDEST TIME GETTING PAST 315 FOR 15, THEN I DROPED THE REPS AND HIT 365 FOR 8 THEN 405 FOR 6 AND 495 FOR 2 AND 505 FOR 1. SO REALLY PUSH YOURSELF. WRAPUP AND GET A GOOD BELT. SECOND THING YOU COULD DO IS SISSY SQUATS ON THE SMITH MACHINE. INSTEAD OF DOING LEG PRESS USE THE HACK SQUAT BUT GO REAL LIGHT AND KEEP THE TENSION ON THE THIGH LIKE SISSY SQUATS AND THIRD TRY SOME WEIGHTED STEP-UPS THESE SHOULD HIT THE TEAR PRITTY WELL. GOOD LUCK BRO.
 
For me leg presses are worthless...now the hack squat is the best choice besides the actuall squat....
With the hacks just experiment with different foot positions ..I prefer narrow for full leg developement...

Perhaps changing your routine would be advised.....go heavy for 5-6 reps on your heavy day and do sets of 20-25 on your lighter days and you will see the difference...singles don't do much for anything except your ego...been there and done that....

At 1 time my leg's were 30" on the left and 30" 1/2 on the right.....They were my best part....
