I have had a sudden loss of strength in my left arm/side in the last week.
It effects me in all my pressing movements as well as bicep curls. Has anyone
expierenced this and what was their protocol for treatment.

C5 motor nerve impingement or Suprascapular Nerve Entrapment The most common places for this to occur being at the nerve root exiting the spine at C5 C6. There are other locations in your upper back and shoulder where impingement can occur . Either way it SUCKS!:mad:
You could try a chiro, neck traction etc. In my experience with this which is way more then I care to remember, the best thing you can do is determne where the nerve is most likely impinged. Ice the area several times a day until completely numb. Avoid anything that might cause infalamation in your upper back/neck. It takes time for the nerver to recover once you start experiencing weakness. So get the inflamation down asap and give the nerver time to recover.
best of luck to you

What my guess was too. I was going to say one of the nerves in the brachial plexus is having swelling around it.

I agree with knucklehed and Maldorf, do you have numbness going down your left arm.

I'm thinking nerve impingement too,but no one can diagnose over the internet by the little we have heard.someone would have to first do some basic orthapedic tests using pin wheels etc.,then if warranted a nerve conduction study to pinpoint.

Yes, defiantly a root that is damaged. Most likely C7 or C8. Place your hands palm down on your knees and stick out your forefingers on each hand only. Hold your fingers up as some one tries to push them down. I betting that your left will go down easily while the right one will be very tough. The next best thing is to order a Nerve Study and this will pin point the impingement so that they know where to MRI.
The reason i know all this is bc i am dealing with and your injuries sounds just like mine......
