I've either seen this study or ones just like it over the years and I always have two thoughts...

The control group has to know they are getting nothing (which sucks too because who'd want to get stuck with all that oil if it was inert?)

And the experimental group has to know they are on when they start gaining mad weight and start chasing the wife around the house like a vagina on legs.

Agreed, hard to keep this sort of treatment blinded. And I know more than one guy who got 'great gains' on bunk gear.
