The carnivore diet

Once your colon adjusts to the lack of carbs for water retention you won't have the diarrhea geyser. Don't trust a fart in the beginning lol.
Well I lost a pair of underwears yesterday after coughing....not fun lol

3.5 days completed so far. I have not farted once haha. Down 3lbs. Had water/diarrhea hose out of my ass yesterday once, but I know with the spike in fats, no fiber, no carbs and overdoing beef tallow played a part in that. Back to normal this AM.

I have to say my energy today is incredible. I usually over indulge on caffeine, which I know isnt the best lol, but today I havnt had any at all. My thought process and thinking is very smooth and clear as of last night. Feeling great so far

Could you share the type of foods you're eating?

Ribeye steak
Eggs
Wagyu Beef Tallow
Ghee Butter
Salmon
85/15 Ground Beef
and picked up some thick bacon today

Depends on what im feeling for the meal at hand

Why are you doing this diet? Surely you know that more vegetables and fruits is the most effective way to improve health.

Because I wanted to try it, I like to experiment with things for myself and learn about them through my experience. As I said a page or so back, I saw the very fast turn around my father made from looking terrible to looking 15 years younger, in better shape, mental and physical shape. As well as knowing some other people who have tried it for a quick gut reset, with success. Want to see what its all about for myself first hand.

I do love fruits, no doubt about that! lol!

Nice! What's your macros? Did you lower Cals or lose weight on your normal intake?

Interesting tidbit...I have known several people on carnivore who for some reason have diarrhea when they eat salmon early in the diet transition. I always explode when I do. My bowels calmed greatly when I stuck to steak, eggs, ghee/tallow/butter and maybe a little bacon to start the diet. This bathroom part is tricky and likely the main issue people quit (which I do understand).

Dom- Did you eat lower carb before this or were you higher carb? Seems like the people that go from higher carb to carnivore get more of the diarrhea where people that are more low carb with high fiber to pure carnivore get the constipation issue more.

Keep us posted!

I'm obviously not Dom but it's a fair question; for a lot of people, fruits and vegetables aren’t the magic bullet they’ve been made out to be.
The carnivore diet is the most pure elimination diet that strips things down to the essentials...highly bioavailable protein, healthy fats, and zero (literally zero and likely the only elimination diet to do that) gut irritants. For people dealing with autoimmune issues, bloating, joint pain, brain fog, or inflammation, removing fiber, lectins, oxalates, and sugar is more helpful for most people that adding in fruits and veggies.

It’s not that fruit and veg are evil, but for some people, they’re not as “universally healthy” as we’ve been told. I look at it like the ultimate elimination diet reset and if you feel good later adding some plants back in, great. I personally am carnivore probably 80% of the time but may add in some blueberries or very specific low oxalate fruits and veggies here and there...but that's about it.

Dom said already why he’s doing it, though. Just several post back.

Other than blueberries, what other low oxalate fruits do you like adding in?

I enjoy a lot of the lower oxalates fruit and veggies so it just works out. Fruit is a little easier...veggies have a lot more. I don't get neurotic about it but I do keep my oxalate consumption to 0-15mgs per day normally.

Fruit (these are really like like <5mgs/serving)
blueberries
cherries
apples
lemons
pineapple
cantaloupe
bananas

Veggies
Cabbage
mushrooms
broccoli
lettuce
Kale
NO SPINACH (>700mgs oxalates per serving...it's about the worst food to eat)
NO BEATS

cooking can make a difference, pairing with calcium foods makes a difference. At the end of the day my inflammation numbers got better and bloodwork overall when I removed oxalates.

Works very well for me and very easy to stick with, easy to go out to eat with family and energy is always high also non stop erections and libido

Another week in, this diet is so easy to stick to, much better mood energy.

Beef, eggs, salmon, cheesecake, butter. Even cut out sugar free gum feel better without that garbage (big gum addict). More energy started running, can't believe I hadn't run for years and considered myself "fit". It's not even hard lol

One note I switched from aldis 96% lean to 93% lean grassfed. Tastes 10x better. Not sure If it's due to more fat or grass fed. Do you guys think grassfed is actually better for us or just a gimmick? I always wonder the same about cage free eggs...but...with them you can clearly see the cage free eggs yolk is much different color and look than the crappy white supermarket eggs and the shell is thicker.

I remember Phil Hernon gave a good tip how to safe money on beef mince- he said : fry it , get rid of fat drained it and and extra virgin olive oil into it.

The last time i was strict keto , two months in my FBG was 98, a few weeks later I started eating carbs again then I ate everything in sight, over the course of the month I put 10lbs of fat back on and after a half lb Arbys Beef N Cheddar sandwhich, large curly fries and a coke two hours later my blood glucose was 83 at the lab.

How come you had 98?? Mine is 77 , what did you do on keto that is was so high?

While an interesting anecdote, I don’t think you can put much value into 2 single glucose readings…

That’s two single snapshots in time. To truly assess how the diet effecting you glucose levels you would need to be regularly checking FBG and post prandials under the same context (stress, sleep, AAS/GH/slin use, hydration status, supps/meds etc.) activity levels etc). Or better yet an a1c.

Of all the “data” we track as bodybuilders, blood sugar debatably is the most easily influenced by outside factors and is truly a very very small snapshot in time.

Does anyone following this diet have good LDL and ApoB in range?

I know your always lean what is yours usually? And a1c? My glucose was 70 answer a1c was 4.9...I was actually disappointed they have been lower thought 0 carb would have me more insulin sensitive. Insulin level was 1.1 low out of range not sure if that's good or bad.
