hey bros,
i know it has been asked before and i apologize if it's a repeated inquiry but i want to get more opinions.
i just finished a 12 weeks of test cyp 800 mg/week, diet was above maintenance calories.

was wondering should i lower calories to maintenance during the cruise or lower it even more to trim some fat or keep it high to prevent muscle loss ?
same thing with workouts intensity, should i lower it ? as the recovery won't be the same while off the blast.

thanks in advance

Your maintenance calories should be higher then before the cycle if you put on muscle. Holding onto muscle till your body adjusts to the new tissue seems to be a good way to go. I would keep calories where they need to be to stay where i am at. And keep training hard. I can have just as much intensity off cycle as on. And strength should be about the same unless muscle is lost.

The only way guys lose muscle here is if they stop eating their diet or don’t train as hard. Nothing changes when you reduce the dosages.

I personally don’t blast and cruise, but that still makes no difference on my above statement.

Use your head and read the full post… in terms of diet and training. Not that complicated for anyone on here but you.

I would lower the caloric intake a bit because the metabolism will definitely slow down without gear. And when it comes to training I definitely wouldn't reduce the intensity, only maybe reduce the volume but only if you feel that you are not regenerating enough.

And by the way if you take 800mg it is less than "crusie" for most so I don't really know why to reduce the dose at all but that's my opinion lol

I find it kind of hard to believe a guy with such experience would say that about dosages amigo. I mean my first response is "C'mon man!". While he didn't mention what his cruise was going to be, if he's running 800mg test now and drops back to TRT dose, let's say 150mg ew, of course he's going to lose some size and strength. I've been in this game a longgg azz time, and that's a no brainer. Doesn't matter how much he eats or how hard he trains. If what you say is true, let's just all cut back to TRT doses and stay there, since "nothing changes".

You guys must be “cruising” for months on end and just eating shit or way too few of calories if you’re all losing a ton of muscle. Lol

Now if you’re talking water and glycogen… sure that will decrease and as @luki7788 said metabolism will slow some.

But if you guys are all losing 10-20 pounds of “muscle” on a cruise then you never had that “muscle” to begin with.

Want proof of this just go read @b-boy log on here.

But my overall point was and is to stick to your diet and training the same to minimize any “potential” loss whether it be glycogen, water OR muscle which should be minimum. Any “experienced” bodybuilder or coach will tell you the same.

Better yet… just don’t “blast and “cruise”. Stay healthy year round and adjust dosage accordingly and you eliminate this all together. 🤷‍♂️

How’s your bloodwork look after the cycle? If everything good, keep rocking

Just to reiterate what luki said—your intensity should never drop. Always train as hard as physically possible

Workout volume should scale with calories.

Lower calories = reduced recovery = potential need to scale back volume

Higher calories = increased recovery, which means you could increase volume as long as you’re recovering appropriately.

I usually eat around maintenance on my cruises. You can still make progress and even recomp a bit

so, staying at maintenance ( the new calculated one ) calories and train with almost the same intensity while on ...that's just about it, no fancy or over complicated actions should be taken.

won't staying on higher calories lead to fat accumulation since the muscle won't grow anymore on 150 to 200 mg test after being on 800 weekly previously ?

honestly, that makes sense

CBC and blood pressure are alright, still waiting for the liver, kidney and hormonal panel results.
i could keep going but results started to stall hard strength and size wise, and mentally i feel like i need a break from continuously beating myself up in the gym.
i already gained 28 lbs (muscle memory) and still haven't reached yet the size i was couple years ago.
i'll keep it around maintenance and lower the volume a bit but keep the weights and intensity almost the same.

Possibly, as I and others stated above your metabolism may slow slightly. So to answer your question directly I would keep your calories closer to baseline, yes.

But don’t skip meals, change the routine, train less or super light, etc.

The whole goal of a “cruise” is just that- to cruise or maintain. NOT go backwards, lose muscle or gain fat. If anyone is doing that in this sport than they are doing it wrong. Period. This is a sport of progression.

The exceptions of course are health, age etc. But for any healthy serious bodybuilder you should not be losing muscle or going backwards.

I find it easier to be successful with most things in life if i don't complicate them.
