Ok, so reading the post about Dexter Jackson and his diet for a 200 lb kid and multiple articles of the like ... reminds me every time.

If we know that 99% of the magazines are shit, the workouts are shit the diet shit is shit, the any article shit is shit...

Then why the heck after we all know magazines are money makers, how come noone puts out a really good one?

I remember reading MD for the first time. Though they get close, its really the same junk/shit.

So, how come noone ever put out a magazine with really good stuff?

For example, if Phil had a magazine Im not sure who I dont know that wouldnt buy it? So, what gives?

I love the forums, but I can't take a shit and read this site unless I use my laptop, then my legs get hot.

Or when I travel or go to the beach.

But I would think if someone had a great magazine, Phil, DC, many more... it would far outway the $ coming in from online training. Plus, the tailored advice for elite folks goes beyond even the better advice in a good magazine, if it existed.

I get it is expensive, but those names have connections. How come it isnt pitched to a big magazine to spin one off?

Or atleast how come they dont use real articles. It makes me think of when you were in school and they would say "Hey if your here anyways, mights as well make the best of it and do good work"

Thoughts?

While I am here, Big Bapper, thoughts are with your family...

I understand

DC had the BEST MAGAZINE of all time.....15 years ago......it is just so much easier to just type out all you know to a client who pays directly......then they get 1 on 1 atention and THEIR QUESTIONS answered.....instead of having to read 1000s of others questions. I know what you are saying though.......

That does make allot of sense... Well, like many things. We will always sell what we always get paid for. 1 to 1, dam good odds, roi...

There is really only so much information out there. If you notice MD and other mags are very redundant. They have article titles like "Testosterone proven to improve brain Function" and then another article in the same mag "Brain function Improved by testosterone"...Plus the ads are real BS...I stopped buying them and just read Southern Muscle Plus, American Body Plus or Powerlifting USA

My favorite part is how in June's issue you will see Dennis Wolf's "6 week arm blast" and then in July's issue you will see Dennis Wolf's new "6 week arm destroyer"...Apparently pro's are worse than 16 year old's when it comes to sticking to a routine for more than a few weeks :) hahah

Muscle Media 2000

Many years ago before they became Muscle Media, Muscle Media 2000 was pretty good, especially in the early days when it was kind of underground. I had a subscriptioin from I think 1994-1998. By 1997 the magazine had gone south. I still have all of those issues in a box somewhere.

PEAK performace mag was great RX muscle (Palumbo mag) was good when you could get it...

Dante had a killer newsletter that was full of info...Only about 10 pages long, but man the info in that was GOLD...I wish I had those, I have moved so many times ....ahhhhh it sucks to move and lose good stuff !!!

I still have 100's of every issue......a few years back I sat down and read all 13 issues and I was very proud of some of the things I brought to the table back in the early 90's.....there were alot of subjects in which that magazine was the first one talking about them....some of them were years before they hit the mainstream.

Those two big Duchaine interviews were great and there were so many pro and top amateur "hey off the record tell me what you are doing" stories that we would then say in the mag "through the grapevine we hear top national's guys who are living in venice are doing this....."

It was kind of comical.

That magazine was fun and I was very surprised at how open alot of guys were when we went "off the record".....and 98% of it Ive kept the details "off the record" because to this day its my duty to do so.....the only cat out of the bag I let out there in detail was the pro (that ended up killing a girl in vegas) and screwed over half of venice (and probably 1/4 of this board with his gh/'oops cough hcg' blue top scam he did years ago, because he didnt deserve no favors.......

but holy gadzukes did the karma of open topics and "time to tell the truth" of that magazine come back and kick my ass royally..... "freedom of speech"? Somebody else go test that phrase out....I got taught a bigtime lesson that there isnt.

I really doubt that a new paper magazine can be successful nowadays in bodybuilding.....its the direct reason MD and others spent so much time on their internet ventures the last couple years....they saw the end of the puzzle and the instantaneous advantages of the internet. Noone wants to wait for info anymore.

Sorry I missed those,,,are those available still in any way?

IMO the best bodybuilding magazines were the old Iron Man smaller format mags from the 60's and 70's. They were packed with useful info. Bodybuilding magazines have changed so much I don't even read them anymore.

John Parillo

I used to read John Parillo's short puplication he puts out each month. It looks like he is still at it. It is full of great info. Here is a link:

**broken link removed**

Here is a sample from it describing his belt squat machine I have described on here before. I trained with Parillo for a period of 2 or 3 months years ago when he would come in to train one of his powerlifters. Those belt squats hit your quads like no other exercise. I will never forget that experience of doing the 100 rep sets.

"The Parrillo Belt Squat:
Belt squatting is the biggest secret
in squatting. The problem is accessibility
to the right equipment.
Few have had the sadistic pleasure
of performing a belt squat workout
on a Parrillo Genetic Equalizer belt
squat platform. This device allows
the trainee to perform flawless belt
squats. The sliding vertical handle
sets this device head and shoulders
over any competitor. The pinnacle
of belt squatting is the dreaded
Parrillo 100-rep set. After the 30th
rep, positive failure sets in: John
and his crew of handpicked henchmen
move in and assist the trainee
in competing 100 reps. Utter and
complete leg and body decimation.
Let’s get to back, front and belt
squatting out there!"

Doesn't stuart McRobert have a small zine he puts out? It costs some $$ though.

I would love to rad some of Dante´s old articles about hyperplasia, diet, training, body manipulation...
