Tumor Found on Liver

You guys are all awesome! Thank you so much!

I honestly feel pretty freaking good. I'm very confident in my doctor and the team that backs her as I am being seen at a top tier hospital.

What makes me even happier is after going to a show this past weekend and training at a pretty hardcore gym, my girl got the fire lit in her to hit the stage... Killing it in the gym with her every day is what keeps me going.

I think she can do very good...

Ya quality GTE with high catechin extract % can do a real number on some people's livers but it seems to be rare and it seems to be related to those individuals have a genetic predisposition to this type of response. It doesnt seem universal but its definately been seen occur in the medical literature and validated.

Just wondering if 1g of GTE a day is doing more harm than good in terms of liver stress (along with all the other bs). If I take almost any oral, but especially something harsh, I pretty much instantly lose appetite and feel lethargic and crappy. Its to the point its not even worth touching an oral. Wondering if its just because my liver was already stressed. Should probably get more labs done soon to see my enzyme levels. I may just be a pussy and cant take orals as well as some people. I did not seem to be like this when I was younger in college because I was poppin prohormones/designer orals like PheraPlex and stuff like tic tacs.

I was using GTE on and off... More so few years ago, not as much now. But shit, crazy to think that something so incidental might have such a profound effect...

Keep up your positive attitude bro! I wish you a good diagnosis and a return to complete health!

Thanks everyone...

Just playing the waiting game now. A panel of hepatic specialists is going to review my case and images from the MRI and CT scan and then schedule the biopsy. I just want to get it done already!

Glad to see you are so upbeat. Great attitude!

Your girl looks amazing by the way.

Wth,,,i just saw this...man, i had no idea...i'm glad you are remaining positive.

Sorry to hear about this bro, it's great your keeping your spirits up there really is something to positive thinking and bodily health, keep up with that and your body will follow hoping for the best your in my thoughts

Keep up the positive attitude Mental!! I'm hoping for the best, you are in my prayers!

Good luck bro ! I would say stay positive but from your comments I see you have that covered big time and that is half the battle.

Once again, thank you all for the support!!!

Last night I kind of melted down a little, I began asking a lot of "what if" questions in my head and just broke... for me, the hardest thing is not knowing. Once the doctors know what it is, and if it is something serious, begin treatment...

Yeah, this wasn't something I was about to broadcast on social media... just wanted to post it here as most of the members here can empathize with the situation and some of the mental struggles that go along with it...

This is going to be hard, but try not to think about the "what if". Over the last 20 years, I've battled skin cancer twice, shit isn't fun at all, but I would have so many negative and "what if" thoughts that it really drained me down and it was mentally exhausting.

Like I said, it is going to be hard to keep those thoughts out of your head, but try to do your best. I wish you the best of luck.

Damn man! Very sorry to hear that!

I am a super analytical person, which is why I have the job I do, and it is double edged sword. It can really make me overthink things and stress...

Right now, training, seeing my girl train and make progress and our puppy are keeping me positive... I think my girl is having a harder time with this than I am... You never realize how much you love someone or how much they love you until times of extreme stress. I know without her I'd be a mess.

Sorry for getting a little mushy here lol

Good luck mental, sorry to hear about this. Keep your head up, definitely try to not play the what if game... it wont get you anywhere...

Hey bud, our thoughts are with you. I went thru something similar (I had several swollen lymph glands of abnormal shape in my neck) after a CT Neck Contrasted test the Dr said they were not malign but I have to check them every 6 months now... so I know the stress you are suffering... wish you all the luck and blessings of the universe... hoping you will recover and be healthy soon...

I'm a complete newb to PM, but wanted to extend my support and good wishes. My wife and a few of our friends are cancer survivors and very active with various charity foundations; and my wife has spent several years of her career focused on oncology research. It can be a tuff road for the patient and the family/loved ones, but there is a light at the end of that road.

Since you are admittedly a critical thinker…do your best to limit googling cancer horror stories online…as everyone has different conditions/situation, health, mental toughness, and access to quality medical care. Luckily, medical research continues to evolve and improve to beat cancer at its game. Looking forward to reading about your progress during your road to recovery.

Don't forget to post pics of the puppy!

Thank you fellas! We shall see what comes of this. I am bringing the films from the scans I had done to the doctor today and she is going to review them with a radiologist and liver specialist and then the hepatology team is going to meet on wednesday to discuss the case and proper course of action. From there it is either go under the knife or just get a biopsy for a more definitive answer as to what this growth is.

Thank you for the well thought out post and sentiment. Newbie or not, a post like that gets appreciated brother. I hope you enjoy pro muscle :)

mentalflex, I was praying for you today and some info I have been looking at for connective tissue and muscular dystrophy came to mind. Here are some bullet points. Oxidative stress, inflammation, and genes can all play a part in an overabundance of enzymes in the body called MMPs that can lead/play a part in tissue degeneration and spread of cancer/tumor growth.

"In order to grow beyond minimal size and to metastasize, tumors need to induce the growth of new blood vessels (angiogenesis). Whereas in normal tissues, vascular quiescence is maintained by the dominant influence of endogenous angiogenesis inhibitors over angiogenic stimuli, tumor angiogenesis is induced by increased secretion of angiogenic factors and/or by downregulation of angiogenesis inhibitors. Recent evidence suggests vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as the major tumor angiogenesis factor, promoting tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis. Conversely, blocking of VEGF function inhibits angiogenesis and suppresses tumor growth in vivo."

[Ultrasound diagnosis of blood flow in benign and malignant breast tumors]. - PubMed - NCBI

Many studies look at tumor blood flow as a sign of a tumor being malignant or benign. Besides the presence of/or abundance of Vascular growth factors and lack of inhibitors, there still needs to be the ability for the tissue of the veins to be dissolved, blood to enter surrounding tissue, and growth factors to signal new growth. The same enzymes that are involved in Tendon degeneration, disc/cartilage degeneration, and Muscular dystrophy progression plays a major part in angiogenesis, the enzymes MMP's

"Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are zinc-dependent endopeptidases; other family members are adamalysins, serralysins, and astacins. The MMPs belong to a larger family of proteases known as the metzincin superfamily.[1]

"Collectively, these enzymes are capable of degrading all kinds of extracellular matrix proteins, but also can process a number of bioactive molecules. They are known to be involved in the cleavage of cell surface receptors, the release of apoptotic ligands (such as the FAS ligand), and chemokine/cytokine inactivation.[2] MMPs are also thought to play a major role on cell behaviors such as cell proliferation, migration (adhesion/dispersion), differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, and host defense."

Some more MMP reading.
Matrix Metalloproteinases, Angiogenesis, and Cancer

Once again the "western medical industry" has been "disappointed" at the side effects and lack of MMP inhibitors they tested to fight cancer, however let me point some things out.

DRUG MMP inhibitors hurt heart function, caused blood clotting, and also wound healing problems, yet nature may have the answer. I WOULD not expect MMP inhibitors to stop the spread of cancer once tumors recieve blood flow, but LOGIC would say that BALANCING out VEGF and MMPs could stop benign tumors from achieving "angiogenesis" and becoming malignant. And it SEEMS we can take natural MMP inhibitors without the same side effects as the drugs.

For the sake of Brevity I will give the bullet points than list sources.

Grape seed extract lowers MMPs, lowers VEGF, shows ANIT-TUMOR PROPERTIES AND improves vascular function

Other things to balance out MMPs

Alpha lipoic acid
Quercitin
Curcumin

"Grape seed extract (GSE) is a widely consumed dietary supplement that has antitumor activity. Here, we have investigated the inhibitory effect of GSE on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and the mechanism underlying this action."

I would also caution against anyone with tumors using BPC-157 as it has shown to increase angiogenesis, at in injury models. It may not affect VEGF when no injury is present but it still seems risky.
