well i went down to a local P/T today to get a BF test and measurements to gauge my cycle.
well they use a machine you stand on not the pinch test so im unsure how correct it would be.

it picked me up as 25% BF :eek:

i dont think this could be true i know ive put on a couple but my arms are leaner and have new veins showing, but i was devastated, i was also trying a new protein powder at 1060 cals per serve so i think that might have helped.
im really going to focus on a very clean cycle now as i dont want to start my cut cycle in September at that crazy amount. could this be some water weight at all as well being week 3?
my am cardio will now be 30 tready and 20 on the bike doing 8 sec 100% 12 sec recovery and try and lean out some.

thoughts guys ?

so according to the stats you listed you say you are 12%......the machine listed you at 25%......that is a huge difference.......post a picture
 
Yeah I saw the same thing Restless :rolleyes: There is a gigantic difference between 12% and 25% bodyfat!! There was just a thread on lying about your body fat percentage.

if you post some pics these fellows here will be able to give you some close estimates,whatever is in your powder its more than just protein.
 
The floor scale bioelectrical impedance scale are a complete joke. That technology sends a current through your body and based on the stats that are pluged in to the unit and the speed that the current comes back in (bf slows the current.) I only keep a hand held bio imp machine in my Sports med clinic and the one I got costs $600. It works fairly well if for normal folks, but athletes with a lot of muscle do not get accurate reading even in the machine's "athlete mode". Read my post in the members pictures forum and I explain in layman's terms my thoughts on the other meathods. I did not have time to read myosin's link and am sorry if this is repetative. Bottom line: If you really need to know, pay the money and get a dexascan or hydrostatic weighing test done.

BTW - My gf used one of those foot scales and it read her at 33%. I am attatching a pic of her showing her abs that same day. I tested her on the dexascan at 16%. Look at her pic and tell me which is the better meathod of testing.

i dont think those hand held jammys work. i messured 17% @ 220 im 5'10. my buddy who is 5'6 215 and alot more solid then me messured 25%.

Skinfold callipers still the best to use. I dont trust those machines. I tried once during pre contest and it reads 17% but with skinfold callipes its 4%! Wanna try how inaccurate it is? after taking your first reading, drink 500ml of water and 5 min later retake your reading again. Your BF% changes in 5 mins!

There are about 12 different levels of those hand held "jammy's". The one at your local gym costs like $50 and is very inaccurate. The one I use is our cardiac rehab unit and Sports Med clinic is the same as the ones at the Mayo clinic and run about $650. They are not close to perfect and are usually within 3% of the Dexascan when I compare the results. The Dexascan is an MRI machine that reads many things like bodyfat, fluid levels, bone mineral density, ect. It even produces an image of the patient/client that show where you hold your bodyfat. We charge $250 for each test and the only other test that could possibly be more accurate is hydrostatic weighing. I am testing both next week and going to compare the results back to back.
As far as skin folds go...it's not as simple as having a trainer pinch the area and taking down the numbers. I have my Master's degree in Physiology and have had maybe 5 trainers take mine correctly (accurately separating the adipose tissue from muscle and take the proper reading. Go into any gym and have 10 trainers take you bf by skinfold and you will get 10 different results. Skin folds have the biggest flaw that can never be controlled: HUMAN ERROR

Well you certainly know what you are talking about, and its nice to know that there is an expert here on this topic. I agree 100% about the skinfold method. It will be different with every person who takes the measurements. As far as the original poster; I wouldnt put much stock in the way your body fat was measured, AND POST A PIC!

Hey, What's up thick? I actually thought of this little experiment last week when we couldn't fit this extremely obese man into the MRI unit! I got a page and when I walked in and saw this guy halfway squeezed into it I was like WTF? Do you guys know how expensive an MRI machine is? (really on the inside I was cracking up wishing I had my reaction on video, dude, it was so difficult to not bust out laughing and instead play the hardass).Bottom line was that I had them put him in the H2O tank and do it that way. BTW, it is really tough to sink a fat guy! Ooooohhhhh! Anyway, I am going to do it on myself and 4 other from the various departments (cardiac, sports med, medical wt. loss, and physical therapy). I tested mine on the dexascan (see my thread in member photo's forum for the bf%) but am going to re-do it again next week back to back with the hydrostatic weighing bc I am dieting and training pretty hard and I expect some type of drop. My prediction for the experiment is that the average will be within 1.5 % of each other.

My friend you are a better man then me, I would not have been able to hold back my laughter and then I would have killed the technician who was trying to squeeze him into the MRI machine, for doing a pig in a blanket. Now tell the truth did the guy sink at all? LOL

Keep your head up bro. I trainer a lot of people and I stopped using any bf measurement a long time ago. We use pictures and measurements. Its amazing how a bf reading can really fuck up your whole week if its 1 % off .

Hate to be hard on you, but seriously man.. Back to the drawing board. You have the stats of a guy that eats only fast food and has never exercised. FIRST you need to clean up your diet and learn about some basic training. You should also stop your cycle. There is no point in feeding your body anabolics when it is obviously being denied the basic building blocks.

ZERO ACURACY.....Scroll up and look at the post with my girls pic at 16%. She took the same test he did and showed 33% the same day, look at her abs and bodyfat for a female. He could post a pic and be leaner than you for all you know. I am sure he does not "Look like a guy who eats fast food and never exercised".....He hasn't even posted a pic yet, seriously dude..... where is the negativeaty and insecurity coming from. Your comments and rudeness to this guy who is already down in the dumps is a total scumbag move. We are here to help each other, NOT KICK SOMEONE WHEN THEY ARE DOWN.
