Weird questions for non competitors who stay very lean year round

I wouldn't say I actively try to stay lean year-round but with how I live this lifestyle it works out that way.

If you'd told me years ago I'd be able to eat the way I do now and look the way I do now I'd have thought you were crazy as I was a naturally stocky kid. Bur years of hard training, regimented eating, and PED use clearly evolved my metabolism, muscle mass, body fat, and overall set point to what it is now.

I'd go so far as to say I actively don't try to stay lean because I find dieting to be very easy. I can always take the fat off in 10 weeks but it takes much longer to reach peak offseason weight. As y'all have seen with the meals I've posted lately when I'm putting in size I go all out to get as big as possible as fast as possible.

Is it vanity? Only for myself. I only try to be better than what I've been before.

But I can absolutely say you'll be treated different if you look great all year long. Just off the top of my head - extra portions at restaurants, free desserts, skip the line at the club, promoters bring you to VIP, heads turn when you walk in a room, take your pick of girls, go to the worst areas without a care in the world, all the people you'll meet from them making comments that can become resources (ex. a plumber, mechanic, business networking person, etc). There's a world that a lot of guys think exists only in movies / TV / porn but I can tell you it's absolutely real for the right people.

Guys used to mock @concreter for all the bragging he did about his experiences in public but if you don't live the bodybuilding monk lifestyle you'll also have those same experiences.
Is this suppose to be a joke? Like go to the worst areas without a care in the world? That's fucking hilarious only an idiot would do that. Or someone suicidal.... People you'll meet from making comments.....haha hahaha I like you can't foster a relationship without being big and lean....I am dying...haha hahaha extra portions...holy fucking shit that's hilarious. Free deserts hahahahahahaha I gotta.stop...you'll meet a plumber...lololo!o!o! Ok

Oh man this is the funniest shit I've read in a long time.

He said for the right people - i am really sorry if you did not see the difference how people approach you - trust me - he does not lie and many people can confirm it cause they have similiar experiences. There is no need to be bitter - we all know that people who look great have more dates better jobs etc. It is how it is.

I can’t tell if this is satire or if you’re being serious. I 100% agree with this, if you haven’t had atleast one of these things happen to you then you either a) haven’t gotten lean enough, b) have poor genetics and/or insertions or c) are too oblivious to realize people are treating you different because of the way you look

He never said anything about going to the worst areas of the world.

But if you haven’t gotten special treatment or attention from being a jacked ripped bodybuilder than you’re doing something wrong or you aren’t one.

Better yet, be a successful well dressed one.

Errrr...he actually did, and this left me quite perplexed.
It's not like bullets bounce back when you look good/big/ripped.

I don't want to offend anyone but sometimes it seems to me that people start to indulge in fantasy when it comes to ego... honestly I have never felt better than others just because I am bigger on the contrary I often think that it had a negative impact on me

Damn I read right over it. But in all fairness we ALL know he was referring to Cracker Barrel. 🤣

For me it’s unwanted attention. Some guys love it, but I’m the guy who just wants to be left alone when I am in public.

The thing that cracks me up the most about this subject is that how literally everyone “used to be a bodybuilder” who strikes up a convo with you when you’re jacked and ripped. 😂 Guess we all have different definitions of what that means.

well in his defense... a jacked male walking around will be a deterrent. 70-year-old women walking down the street, in a bad area, is much more at risk. Obviously being jacked doesn't mean you can fight, or that you can take on multiple people that jump you, but it makes a difference in peoples perception.

it's amazing how many jacked and ripped people there used to be! then you ask for a picture and there are zero pictures to be found lol

Unless you’re competing (and even then this still can apply) there definitely is a vanity aspect to it. Everyone has different reasons for their AAS use, for some it is more egotistical than others. At the end of the day how big you are should play no role in your self-worth

I find when people look, act etc different then the average they get noticed more and of course are treated different to some degree. I am a short old man but when the coat and sleeves come off people treat me different been that way for decades. Friends have noticed the same. a couple guys at the gym are pushing 7 feet tall and they are treated different then most. Hot girls get treated different etc that is just how the world works. Same as if people find out you are smarter then them. Things change when you are different the the average.

Was at a big outdoor concert last night and this thread came to mind. I don't live in a BBing hub but a few bigger lifter guys. Not one was under 15% - majority centered around high teens to 20 or a tad over. And yeah, not one was a SHW or near HW PL or anything of the sort.

Hell my local Costco eliminates most of it's healthy or keto items outside of summer. Summer and it's all back. Obviously this is data driven and not random. Majority of people in my area simply don't give one fuck until the last minute and then it's too late. Probably the norm but kind of sad. Like the kids in college that don't start lifting until 2 weeks before spring break and crowd the place up. I used the joke for years with my wife that I needed to "get ready for spring break." LOL

The attention I get is annoying for the most part.
Like the waiter who started lifting three weeks ago and feels entitled to ask you 253 retarded questions in a row while you're trying to chill and enjoy your meal/company/conversation until you lose your cool.

...or the countless creeps who take your appearance as some kind of provocation and act in a borderline-rude manner even when you're kind and polite. Insecurity and idiocy at the highest.

Some amusing and enjoyable things do happen from time to time, but hypermuscularity is far from being all free stuff and being treated like a superstar IME.

my previous career (retail management was waiting on a district) My regional manager told me straight to my face that he would never promote me because I looked like a meathead, and it isn't a good look for upper management. I also did not have a degree at the time (which he said he also would require). This guy did not like me for the sole reason of being muscular. Absolutely crazy

I know, right?! We are providing a valuable service as their wife's boyfriend. The least these schmucks can do is get off the Murphy bed and make me breakfast when I stay over to bone their missus.

I don't doubt the majority of guys on this forum, competitor or not, stay tight and within reach year round for the many reasons mentioned above. If for no other reason than to just look good. That said, if someone told me that the majority of guys are sitting at 8% I would be stunned.

Some of us do it because of muscle dysmorphia. Muscle dysmorphia is not what many gym bros call bigorexia, it is much more complex, and not necessarily a never satiated desire for size, but is for overall body composition including size, musculature, leanness etc. would actually prefer to be fatter, but my stupid fucking brain will not allow it. It is weird actually if you think about it. My subconscious physiological brain knows that being and staying too lean is detrimental, and eventually starts telling you to start gaining bodyfat motherfucker, but that same brain allows my conscious to override the physiological need to gain fat, and continue to stay lean? it is bizarre
Really well said! Everytime I attempt a bulk I have the motto “to the moon” yet it never fails. As soon as my bf gets over 11ish I lose my cuts and abort. My mind won’t let me stack on bf. But I’ve come to terms with it because I’m 44 now and excessive body weight murders my blood panels. Force feeding even the cleanest food is not healthy, or at least for me isn’t. I’m not a mass monster, but I can get peeled fast. So roll with what you’re good at. I’m leaner than 99% of the guys at my local golds gym. This is me, 5’-10” 195 lbs morn weight for reference.
