I do not think vit c has anything to do with water loss. As above post mentioned you will lose water when you drop carbs, the fact that 5000 or more mg was being taken at the time might lead one to believe the vit c had some thing to do with it. I could be wrong but I don't think so. Been using vit c in high doses for years. I do know that it has a buffering effect on cortisol levels in the body. Corticosteriods do inhibit muscle growth to a point. So anything you can do to minimize the effects of cortisol on muscle is a good thing. Hard training brings about a release of cortisol and so does stress, training is percieved as stress by the body and invokes a release of cortisol.
