A friend of Dorian Yates told me that he used to take 5000 vitamin c so he could use it to get rid of water, apparently if you use alot of it, it has a diuretic affect. Does anybody else know about this?
how many weeks out are you on your diet right now? if you are 3+ I wouldnt really worry about it a whole lot, once you start to lower the carbs a little more you will def lose more water...

I do not think vit c has anything to do with water loss. As above post mentioned you will lose water when you drop carbs, the fact that 5000 or more mg was being taken at the time might lead one to believe the vit c had some thing to do with it. I could be wrong but I don't think so. Been using vit c in high doses for years. I do know that it has a buffering effect on cortisol levels in the body. Corticosteriods do inhibit muscle growth to a point. So anything you can do to minimize the effects of cortisol on muscle is a good thing. Hard training brings about a release of cortisol and so does stress, training is percieved as stress by the body and invokes a release of cortisol. Yes training also releases a lot of other good hormones that tend to outweigh cortisol if your nutrition is right.
Yeah Im 2 months in to my diet, got just over 10 weeks left so Im still consuming 30% carbs 70% protein I will lower the carbs if I need to when Im 6 weeks out, I will check the situation then and then adjust. Im not that bothered about water until the last 3 weeks, I think right now losing body fat and keeping muscle is my main priority.
I just thought I mentioned the vit c, because Im a bit paranoid about taking diruetics.
Errr yeah I forgot to mention that, I fry my eggwhites in olive oil and I have a handfull of cashews,almonds and hazlenuts in the evenings so the fat intake is about 10-15%.

i start vit C 10 days out at 2000mg per day and go up to 7000mg per day through the contest. Vitamin C does have a diuretic effect and helps pull water from under the skin into the muscle. When taking this vit C, always take 1000mg 30 min prior to tanning.
