Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ), could be classified as a B vitamin. In test's done on mice that were deficient in PQQ grew slowly an had fragile skin, lowered immunity and problems reproducing. Because mice an humans are said to have comparable responses to vitamins, it is likely that humans would suffer from similar symptoms. "PQQ" is not normally included in multivitamin tablets but can be found in vegetables such as parsley, peppers, and kiwi fruit an some meat.
So what is a vitamin? The word "vitamine" (later becoming "vitamin") was coined in 1912 to describe the organic substances in food that are essential for most chemical processes in the body. Aside from PQQ, there are 13 vitamins considered essential for health.
Vitamins are organic compounds that are, with few exceptions, not produced in our bodies. So we need to ingest at least trace amounts of them in food an supplement form for normal growth an metabolic processes, an to avoid vitamin deficiency diseases such as scurvy (lack of vitamin C) or beriberi (lack of vitamin B).
We as bodybuilders, or people looking to live happy healthy lives should pay special attention to vitamins because they are essential for repairing muscles an maintaining a healthy immune system among many other things.
I have gotten this information from many mags an my own studying done to help myself as well as others I hope this will help anyone that reads this thread please feel free to comment an teach me anything I have left out.
