FYI, Vitargo is not any better at giving you an insulin spike as Dextrose does. The only advantage that Vitargo has is that it's not a sugar, but rather a starch made from potato. If you're not worry about sugar content, just stick to good ole cheap Dextrose!

you are wrong as the the use of vitargo as a carb up. It is not for the sugar whatsoever infact the reason you use Vitargo is that it is a waxy potato and will hold a glycogen load for a period for almost 72 hours and will not bloat you on initial carb up after the carb depleation. A simple high dextrose or maldextrose is used primarily the morning of the show. wyldeone.

Vitargo is a modified starch from potato and/or maize, with specific amylose/Amylopectin ratios. It has a very fast stomach emtpying rate which means it bypasses the stomach straight to the small intestines where the heavy starch content turns to gel and releases more slowly the high glycemic carbs, It's a type carb that more resembles storged glycogen than it does simple glucose. It seems to be promising in many applications. and in theory and even a few clincial studies and more real word results should be a superior carb source than maltodextrin for post training shakes.

I'm working on obtaining it. I've got access to the starches, I am having to do some detailed research to make sure the amylose/Amylopectin ratios are the same as vitargo. It has to be the same ratios for the same effect and not all starches even if they are modified or native starches don't neccessarily have the ideal ratios. Since vitargo is patented they don't easily let be known what those exact ratios are, though I think I know. Most food ingredient companies that sell bulk starch don't state these ratios since they don't really matter to regular food applications. I can say that there were a few compnaies that had vitargo in their blends but they stopped using them. I'm not sure if this was due to patent infringment or the cost difference of the appropriate starch against maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is much cheaper thus most companies use it. I should have more info as time progresses.

I've been using the cgl after w/o but was wondering if the vitaro would be a good carb source (low GI)? I heard that there were some complex carb powders pro's were using to get more cals in... it wasnt dextrose or malto...
something like red beet powder or something like that. I thought Yates had it in their line a coulpe years ago, but I dont see it anymore..Anyone know?

i saw art about a month and a half ago at a local show, he was promoting his new pure vitargo. its made by professional supplements..

great stuff... art was looking pretty heavy, he said around 300ish

and yes^^^ thats the stuff, it doesnt mix too well, but DAMN you get great [pumps if taken on an empty stomach right before training...

What about for bulking and and using it immediatley after a workout
mixed with say Bcaa,Glutamine.creatine,protein?

Is think its THAT superior to dextrose?
I can get Dextrose locally in healthfood store for 3 dollars
Vs 30-60 dollars for Vitargo.

IMO precontest, i'd say it's price justified, not on a regular basis, it will help you avoid the bloat associated with large carb meal intake, and water retention that comes with high glycemic carb intake, but unless your loaded, at 25 servings per container, 72 g carbs per serving, you could potentially blow $50 every 2 wks if you used it 2x a day
