weight training and haemorrhoids

Ouch touchy subject i know but can the heavy duty bodybuilders tell me if this is a common problem with lifting? If so, how can you avoid getting it?

Yes it is common, especially with power lifters. Here are some things that may help:

1. Stay away from spicy foods
2. Take something that helps soften your stool from all of the protein intake, like a natural herb.
3. Don't sqeeze to hard while on the throne
4. Keep hydrated
5. Make sure your diet has necessary fats.
6. Breath correctly while in the gym, exhaling while pressing/pushing.
7. Don't drop the soap in the men's room. :eek:
 
I started powerlifitng in highschool and still lift heavy , do realy deep squats and strait leg dead lfits and have never had any trouble with mine , I got them for a bad case of Salmonila poisening , some serious diaria and that was it.
The only thing that realy bothers mine is constapation. If your are hurting check with your doc and get some "proctofoam" it works alot better than the preperation -H



A cruel little joke I got a fella with one time ,he was a little prick helper that diden't know when to shut his mouth so he deserved it.

His roids were hurting him for the first time that they ever came out and realy hurt and asked what to do to make them stop , SO , I told him to soak in a tub of water that was as hot as he could stand for 15-20 min then get out dry them off and rub on some blue star ointment.:eek:
the stupid little fucker did it but he did say that they went away after a few more days
 
One of the main causes of haemorrhoids is heavy lifting. So I would say its pretty common among hardcore lifters. I had them and used a Prep-H like produce that I got on script from docs. It had a nossil that you stuck right up there to cure the haemorrhoids inside aswell as out.

I used to get assteroids all the time from bike riding. There are various ointments available that will help the condition. I read somewhere on the web that you could put Crisco or butter on your O-ring, but I wouldn't try that shit.
 
A good cure is to get some nitroglycerin creme and dilute it with vaseline to .5 %.Apply it 3 to 4 times daily.
 
Yes its common. I had the same issue a few years ago when I started lifting real heavy I noticed I ended up with hemroids.

Try some preperation-H.
 
I believe sitting to much can cause them to flare up. Straining during lifting and when you go to the toilet are probably what caused them. When I first started having them I noticed that days were I sat all day at work they were worse. Plus I tend to watch a lot of TV. I noticed that when I laid down to watch TV and get up more at work they went away. Try looking at webmd they have a lot of info there.
 
Im not ashamed to say that I get them all the time. There are actually two types to get. Dont know the technical terms but esentially there is one kind that occurs within the rectum and another that produces polops or bumps externaly.
Sometimes they are just a neusance, other times they are so painfull that Death would be a great relief.
The preperation H and other creams are good, but only numb some of the pain and try to reduce the swelling, but actually do nothing to "cure" them.
In my case, they usually last about seven to ten days.
It is actually genetic in my case. Three generations of SOBs who have them sometimes constantly. Among the great points Kaiser mentioned, stress can also cause them at times.
My grandfather remedied his with a surgery where they remove a portion of tissue that (probobly the genetic cases more so than the average joe) that is excessive in the rectom and seems to cause the problem more often than for others. Its painfree, and when I get them and they dont hurt, I put up with it, but when I get them and it hurts like hell, I start making apointments to have the surgery.
 
Also, and this is not a joke, I keep preperation H in the fishing tackle box to put on bait.
It contains shark liver oil! fish love it!
