Weighted Dips for chest Technique

Here's one with weights. Notice how the weight plate is twisted 90 degrees and lying on top of the knees:

YouTube - Dips for bryst

That's weight?:p

I use 5x 25's right now getting 15+ reps and just don't think they will sit all pretty on my leg like that, they barely fit b/w my legs. But for those with less than 45lbs added, I guess it would work - Good find.

is the above video pretty good form then...i dont lean over anywhere near as much as that...and i try and keep my head upright so to speak.

No range of motion there, and not stretching the chest. just bad form for chest. tris maybe, and upper pecs. Dips imo are a fundamental chest builder and Strengthener. They were very useful in my early days of gaining mass and power. Also looks as if he had too much weight to do it properly. ego reps there..imo

You should really understand what that movement is before you make retarded comments. Look up pec minor and do some learning..

I would make damn sure I´m right before trying to make mountaindog look like a fool...

Sorry if this sounds like I'm stating the obvious but try to lean forward more using more of your arms to stabilize the body. Additionally, let your chest expand/stretch before engaging your shoulders/triceps, i.e. squeeze your upper back. Sorry no video but hope this helps..try it w/o weight to get the correct form first.

This is the proper way to do dips.

Not sure what this comment means, but i did not try to make anyone look like a fool. Nor did i make any comments to or about john. I have a lot of respect for the guy, and for what he does and has done.

Hi guys...just looking for a good video on the above?

im doing them but feels more like its hitting my shoulders.

Thanks

The only advice I can give you without showing you personally is working on technique. Once you have it right it hits the pecs hard. Try to practicie without the weight for awhile until you get the feel for the movement.

That is a modified dip exercise and is one of the best exercise for the uper chest, it is very important to be performed correctly. John`s demonstracion is perfect. It can be performed on a dip machine also.

I bow humbly to your greatness. The weight used was for demonstration purposes. I've done up to 3 x 45s with no problems.

Why use 25s? Why not go all the way and use 25 x 5lbs while you're at it? :D

I'm with hiramabiff on the Gironda Dips. Done correctly and with super slow motion with a full stretch at the bottom you won't even want to use weight... An excellent exercise. Also a fan of his sternum pullups.
