so far my predictions were correct. i posted this poll with some theories of my own and wanted to see if i was right and i am right.
it makes alot of sense in my opinion.

i did not know there would be guys with such unique jobs. some of them i have never heard of. but as far as the poll it looks exactly like i thought it would.
interesting...
we are such a unique group of people.

i agree, well, from my perspective, i think guys go into construction cuz they like working hard and didnt really want to conform to a biz type of atmosphere, tho i do miss the poon that would be around...............as for le, i cant say but, i think thats all a certain type of mindset, that well.................i better not say ;)

sales im surprised at tho

Well Im US Army. A 12B, combat engineer, a.k.a demo specialist and turned down Berkley to come play soldier, yep I enlisted lol. Funeral director/mortician For about 14 years or so. I like it but i will be going back to school for my R.N. There is just so much opportunity in that field, and i have taken a lot of sciences already.

Okay Michael,

You win the prize for the creepiest job...I would say it takes a REAL special person to do what you do. Tell us more about what you do on a day to day basis because im interested!

For example do you drain blood and fill bodies up with embalming fluid and, sew faces, and put makeup on the ladies when you are done? Has anyone every tried to solicit you to buy embalming fluid......aka PCP? Just curious.

Not trying to be funny....I am actually intrigued!

Hmmmm

Guy Smiley, since you're the catalyst of this thread, would you mind telling us what you do for a living? Cheers!

i actually forgot to put my profession on the freakin list :banghead:

Project Manager for a general contractor. I do all the heavy equipment civil work; move dirt, build roads, ponds etc. 9 years now. Hard work got me to where I am at, not my college degree.

I work in a Max Security prison...mostly lifers, rapists, serial killers, and pedofials...great environment. I work in segregation, so we house the the real screwups...staff assaulters, guys who've just gotten in fights/stabbings, head cases, piss and shit bombers you name it we got 'em. The good thing is I can go to work see a guy smear himself in his own excrement, slice his wrists and paint himself in blood or witness a stabbing and still go home without it bothering me or feel the need to talk about it to my wife.

This is wild man... Theres a good show on National Geographics channel called Lock up. and Lock Up Raw. Its pretty much all documented inside some of the toughest prisons in the nation.. Seems like you have to be a bad ass to deal with the lifers, gassers, chesters.. Most are sociopaths with preditory behavior. .. You must have put your time in to not have it affect you man..

Michael: please tell us more? if its cool.

Retail Grocery. Store manager. Been in the business since I was 17. Worked my way up to store manager a few months before I was 24. I will be 30 in a few months - I'm really burned out!

Also, I work for my mom's business on my time off doing custom wedding cakes. I do most of the 3-D cake orders. Not exciting or macho but does take some skill to do and pays pretty well.

That is some intense shit right there! It must play a lot on your mind. Do they provide an outlet for you to keep your head straight? I would imagine this is very stressful.

On a day to day basis; I do many things. I make arrangements with the family, and this is probably one of the toughest aspects. What i mean by toughest is the emotion that is present. I sit down with the family and go over all of the details for the funeral. Visiting hours, church services, cemetery etc. I also go to the place of death; hospital, nursing home, house, me office etc, and take the body back to the funeral home. I also prepare the body by way of embalming which is basically replacing the blood with embalming fluid(formaldehyde) Once that is finished the body is dressed, and then i apply make up and do hair. The body is then placed in the casket and set up in the viewing room. I also direct the funeral at the church or funeral home, and also direct at the cemetery. There is a lot of behind the scenes work as well. Contacting the doctor to sign a death certificate, and filling out the certificate with the vitals. Filing the certificate with the neccessary township for burial. Contacting the cemetery to locate a family plot or grave site. Contacting the church and arranging the dates and times etc. There is a lot to arrange for and NO mistakes can be made. The smallest of errors can turn a very pleasant family into a very angry family. Attention to detail is very very important; from hair, cosmetics, timing, spelling mistakes on a death certificate,a late limousine, etc etc can make for a disaster.

Attorney... Was a middle school social studies teacher for a while... also taught at a local community college... then decided to go back to school to be an attorney...

6 years of military intelligence. Been to places i can't talk about. I got out because of the bureaucracy and the waste of tax payer money. I seriously learned in my time that over 80% of the problems the US has is because of the federal government. I'm sure all of you are BIG BIG fans of the federal government too. They're just here to keep us safe. Now i'm a full time computer engineer student. I dont know how anyone can go through the red tape that is working for the gov't and still be happy with what they do.

Oh yeah I seen that show I watch it all the time. It amazes me the size of the US prisons. Im in Canada, smaller pop but a lot of crime going on at the same time. My prison houses maybe 300 inmates tops, all of them the worst in Canada, you mess up at another prison you get sent here....lifers and murderers min 2yrs at a MAX before can apply for a medium security.

Its an interesting job because you have to learn to deal with each inmate differently because there are all mixed educational levels, social skill levels--->ADD ADHD etc, so it can be challenging.

Theres critical incident stress relief for those that need it after an incident, Ive never needed it though.

I guess because Ive been though a lot and seen a lot of things in my years that things dont bother me much.

I work for GM , I have been there for 7 years and I am happy with it for the time being.. Never know I might just win the Lotto !!! Its a good job and allows my wife to be a stay at home Wife/Mother

Software Development for State government. I've been doing this for 8 years and love my job. Before that I spent 17 years as a Concrete Finisher which is one of the reasons I love my desk and my computer so much....!
