how do most of you get fats with your shakes? i assume most people just put oil in with thier shakes but i'm sure that makes your shaker pretty nasty doesn't it? do you buy capsules of oil, or just down it raw or what?

also, i read something by MassiveG about not taking cabs and fats together in the same meals, only protien/carbs or protien/fats...why is this? i think i remember dc talking about it a little, but not really giving any reasons.

last question...is there anywhere to get complex carbs powder for shakes? i just bought 60lbs from trueprotien and i have been mixing it with gatorade powder pre/post workout, but i want something complex for throughout the day to avoid the insulin surges...or is that really something i shouldnt be concerned about? i did some searching online but i want to know if there is anything specific you guys like as far as complex carb powder.

i think that would be pretty gross to drink oil in a shake!!! definately drink them seperate.

as far as the carb/fat thing together. Massive G has info on it posted in articles section.

Maltodextrin is a Complex Carb powder but i don't know if its a good powder to be drinking throughout the day. Just because something is a complex carb doesn't mean its going to give off a slow steady glucose or insulin release/rise. all that complex/simple really means. is how big the nutrient chain is. nothing more nothing less. but i was reading something Skip wrote once, and he said that he eats his oatmeal raw. Put oatmeal in one cup and water in another. throw some oats in ur mouth and wash it down like its a pill. I do this now and its so damn easy, although i often get strange looks or comments. One cup of oats is a lil hard for me to eat cooked. I hate the taste and its bloats me. if u do it like this, you can eat it in half the time and it eat twice as much. very easy. give it a try.

IMO it is easier just to take liquids and down them straight rather than mix in shake.

I just take a shot glass and measure out my amounts of oils that I take (EFA & MCT Oil) and dump it in the shot glass and down it like it was taquila, works really well.
 
thanks conan21, my budd was actually just telling me the other day this how he gets his carbs as well. thanks for reminding me.

bulldog21, doesn't the oil leave your mouth tasting like crap? like its coated in oil?
 
It does leave a bad taste but oils are less expensive as you have to eat a shit load of gel caps to get the same dosage as a tablespoon of liquid. Better cost savings in the long run

I use a mix of oils, flax-canola-olive in my shakes. A good mix of the Omegas.
Tastes just fine. I always mix the night before and it settles together nicely.

45 grams protien powder
1 TBS Natural Peanut Butter
1 or 2 TBS Olive Oil or Flaxseed Oil
1 medium Bannana
1 or 2 cups milk
Add the rest water and some ice and blend

Try this Flexmaster its a good tasting shake even with the oils in there.

that sounds like a pretty good shake for when i have time to blend it all up, especially with the peanut butter! but i am generally on a somewhat tight schedule during the day and away from my house, so i pre mix the powder in ziploc bags and mix with water throughout the day...6 shakes/day
