for 3 years plus i have been putting up with itchy skin. i have been taking a 10mg tab of loratadine every day to offset it. it gets so bad without the tab i cant control the scratching. i get incredibly, incredibly itchy.
so, to find the cause i started usin different types of shampoos, soaps and detergents. nothing changed.
then i started manipulating my diet. different carbs, no carbs, dairy, no dairy.
still itchy.
then about 2 months ago i tore the muscles in my lower back. i stopped eating protein powder since i couldn't train for almost a month. the whole time i didnt eat powder i didnt itch! i thought it coincidence and didnt think anything of it and started to use powder again, then at christmas i got strep throat, stopped taking it for 5 days and sure enough- no itching.
so, for the past 5 days i have cut out my powder intake completely. i am itch free. this is nuts. who would have thought i would have an allergy to protein powders- and not just one type- i have used several different types/ brands of protein thru the years.
so now i am relegated to using meats for my protein source. today i went to costco and bought $60 worth of sirloin, chicken breast and beef for the slow cooker ( 2 kilo chicken breast, 2 kilo sirloin tip steak, 2 kilo stewing beef) i dunno how long this meat will last- maybe 5 days to a week? talk about a pain in the ass- i found powder so convenient and have come to rely on it greatly.
i'm telling myself i'll make better gains with the whole foods so im not too disappointed with not being able to use powder anymore.
ah well. just thought i'd share that with you all. who would have thought anyone could ever have an allergy to protein powder. lol.
