Amino acids vs. Protein shake post workout???

Just curious on if it's better to just supplement amino acids post workout for your first two meals instead of a protein shake and whole foods that have to be broken down and then are available for repair??? I was thinking that maybe 25gs of a Amino acid supp and then 25g of BCAAs post workout, and then 45mins later repeat, taken with waxy maize, and then at the 2h mark take some protein shakes and whole food ect. What do you think???
 
Well to me its kind of the same thing. I mean it takes 22 amino acid molecules to make one protein molecule....so whats the diff.
 
you would be better off taking the amino's after you work out seeing that they will be readily available for the body. Also take them before you lift too! If you ingest pure protein your body must first break it down before it can put the aminos to use. It is said that along with your aminos you should take .7-3.0g of carbs/ kg of body weight every two hours after you lift for 6 hrs to replensih your gylcogen stores.
 
Well, I think that you can't beat good ol' whey isolate and gatorade post workout. I don't think it's any more beneficial to try and get all complicated with amino's and dextrose in a polychlorophloryl unisachiridic tea bagging pwo shake. It's kind of like doing 1 set of 3 different isolation exercises for quads when you'd get better results just doing some fuckin' squats. No need for all the complication.

Weight gainer or protein shakes are easy after the workout and the protein will be easily digested so I wouldn't waste time with amino's. Whole food will stimulate your metabolism and everything better but its hard to do, thats why most of us do the shakes. After you tear your ass up in the gym the last thing you want to do is sit and eat 750 calories with 50g of protein. Just do a shake.
 
It don't matter much.

But if we were to get into theoretical wanking, aminos preworkout might be good. Aminos preworkout stimulate protein synthesis but whey does not do it acutely like aminos. This has been studied, there was a recent study that examined if whey would have the same protein synthesis stimulating qualitites as aminos preworkout and it did not. Most likely due to the fact that whey takes a fair bit of time to get into the system.
