was wondering what the average and highest amount of protien, carbs, fats, and fiber is for some of your biggest olympia bodybuilders during the off seasons? heard jay saying on muscle tech commer, it was like 450 gs of pro, and like 7 or 800 of carbs, and he didnt have any fruits or veggies in it, so if this was really his diet, i would believe hes slacking on the potasium, what do yall think, i know i can have a hard time getting 350 of pro in sometimes plus all the other foods

They all have diff diets. Some eat extremely clean year round, some eat like crap, i'd say most eat a lot but many probably dont even eat as well as your average member on here. Its all about genetics. Thats why bodybuilding is the most unfair sport to exist. Its the only sport where you can give %100 and someone else can beat you at %20. ALL GENETICS.

Click on the BBer and scroll to see what they eat. Just muscletech sponsored BBer's though.

I disagree completely...bodybuilding is just like every other major sport. Some people just have "it" whatever it is. Look at all the top people in all sports. They have the gentics, or god given talent, or whatever you want to call it. Some people work their ass off playing basketball but will never make it because they just aren't tall enough. It comes down to genetics. Pedro Martinez is a small skinny guy but was one of the best pitchers in baseball history over a 5 year period. I could have been trained since I was 2 to be a pitcher and I never would have been close to as good or as talented as him. I could practice playing the piano but I'll never play like Mozart. You can't practice to have the ability to ride those mountains like Lance Armstrong. I think you get my point.

The biggest difference in bodybuilding, being a 'pro' doesn't mean that much as far as a career. It's all about getting endorsement contracts

I agree that genetics are also responsible for all sports, but I feel that they are most important in bodybuilding.

Yeah, just give up. You don't have the genetics. Why even bother? Its just who has the best genetics. Nothing to do with training and diet and desire.
Might as well do something you actually got a chance at, like basket weaving.
The only guys who can actually become a professional are the ones with the right genetics. Of course they know this ahead of time, thats why they do it. Everyone else should just realize they don't have the right genetics and give up now.
There shouldn't even be amature shows. Pros should just get a genetics card and the one with the best genetics should be mister O. In fact, people shouldn't even work out. They should just have a genetics card that says they have the most potential.

Rent the movie Gataca.

hellraiser what is wrong with you lately i think maybe your on to much shit or something. Im not trying to be a dick but read whats written he thinks genetics are the most important part of the sport. It wasnt typed anywhere that i can read where he said diet and training dont matter, or did he? Am i missing something??

imo this is uncalled for, yes everyone has there own opinion but why be so over the edge in your response??

It's really tough to face reality here guys, but the genetic stuff is all dead on correct. Face it and move on. Just because you're never going to be a "pro" doesn't mean you still can't "live the dream".

exactly plus, its nice to look different than the average american now, When you have a good physique it speaks for itself. It takes a lot of dedication for some to be a top bodybuilder, and less for other while some probably cant without risking the health day in day out. All depending on genetics first, diet second, training third. I dont think you can really argue the about genetics unless you cant see the picture clearly, imo!

Genectics? Maybe for BB, but not at every day life. At 16 I was 6' 135, today 6"1" 218 and lean. Put me up to the majority of guys 1 year shy of 50 and I am among the top built(everyday guys) Of course, at the gym people think I got good genectics, because of how I look at my age. LOL ,I know better. Some of us prefer to live a healthy life.;)

You are taking this way out of context. He's referring to Olympia competitors, not 5'7" 180LB hard working Joe Shmo who competes annually at the regional NPC qualifier.

Sure we can all be respectable bodybuilders and do the best with what God's given us as well as training, diet and dedication.

He's referring to the ELITE (THE BEST OF THE BEST), and no matter how hard we dedicate, train, etc, we can't get there because of our physical limitations.

as far as the genetics deal, I look at it like this. You cannot take a labrador retriever and make him into a pit bull, no matter how hard you try. That's just the nature of the game

Why do people keep talking about genetics. It's clear that genetics in one way or another effects you entirely in bodybuilding. Even your diet or training has to be built around genetics. Whether your an ecto, meso, or endomorph, bone structure, number of muscle fibers people need to stop crying and do their best and plus no one has ever reached their genetic limits.

Exactly. Im not saying to give up. Im just saying take a look at other sports. Lets look at basketball. You can still make it if your short. Mugsy,etc.. Football you dont have to be big(most qb's),baseball,etc.. many of these sports people also get in due to connections. Sure they have to work hard, but with bodybuilding, if you have bad genetics, you will never succeed no matter how hard you try. Maybe succeed for personal goals but not in the sport. And when I say bad genetics I dont wanna hear people saying look at guys like kovacs,etc.. b/c they only have bad genetics for top levels guys, but their genetics are still far above average.

I would say Cutler and Ronnie and a lot of top guys have gone way past their genetic limits.

Time brings the acceptance and understanding that you should not even give a rats ass about how anyone else looks. You do the very best you can with what you have. Make health your top priority, because in the end, that desire to look like someone else can kill you. It can be so dangerous when the genetically unfortunate are willing to do ANYTHING to try and look like the genetically gifted. In the end, they will still not look anything like their role models and they often find their health has also disappeared in the effort.

Just be you. Do all you can with what you've got and do it with the goal of health in mind. The truth is, if you focus your bodybuilding efforts on health in the first place, you will end up looking as good as you are capable of looking anyway.

Def agree about the health. I dont care what anyone says, NO PRO is healthy.

Really, how do you go past your limits. You might of thought something was your limit but once it's past then you would realize that it's not your limit.
