When you're sick...do you take a day or two off or do you work out through being sick (such as the flu)? I just wanted to get some opinions on the matter.
 
It all depends on how sick I'm feeling. If I just have a headcold than I'll lift through it. If I'm sick and vomitting or something, than I'll take the day off. It all depends on you bro..
 
depends on how it fucks with your appetite ... if i can eat like normal I will lift thru it, but there is no sense in lifting if you can't consume the calories to repair.
 
REST

Take a few days and rest to allow your body to fight the infection and recover (drink plenty of fluids....). When you train heavy and build lactic acid it must be removed via the lymph system which is also how infections are removed, so its best not to stress the immune system more.

I take a good week off if coming down with influenza.Lots of fluids with Echinacea,Golden Seal,Vitamin C ect. Taking a week off doesn`t sabotage gains,but trying to work through it could weaken your immune system.The last thing your body wants to do is grow while you`re sick !
 
Anything mild like a little head cold, I would probably drug myself with some Sudafed non-drowsy and train (I am a creature of habit). Anything more serious, take time away from the gym and let your body use all its recuperation power to fight the infection. My theory is why stress your immune system even more and delay a full recovery? Not to mention, nobody wants to train around a sick person.
 
I was wondering the same thing b/c I have been sick as heck lately(last 2-3days)
 
i usually take time off for flu or anything else that is contagious, little cold ill work through, i hate is a person is coughing and being sick next to me, with me thinking i may catch it. think about how easy it is to spread that in the gym
 
Take a couple of days off. Eat, drink lots of water and rest. You will recover much better this way!
 
I haven't worked out all week...nor taken my Krav Maga class....I'm going to skip my Krav class tomorrow...and just hit the gym light. I'm going stir crazy not going to the gym....but striking the pads and kicking in Krav is a little too much for me for now. Thanks for everyones input...I just didn't want to feel like a pussy not going to the gym while I'm sick ;)
 
When I feel sick, I take a break...burying my body with more stressors isn't going to help anything.

I just went through this last week, in fact. I got some kind of chest and head flu/cold, fever, and chills. Appetite was off. I took days off until I felt like I was "well", and started back in lightly.
