What shoes are best for heavy squats..deads? What kinds do you guys wear to the gym?

I wear otomix currently and new balance on leg days.
I have heard alot of people say chucks for legs? Dont know why?

i used to wear chucks to dl and sq, but a good all around shoe for me was the old adidas shell toe w flat bottom. for dl tho i still slip on the chuck t's

I find skate shoes best for squats/deads.
Nice broad flat sole, and supportive upper.
Normally use DC's & and as only use on legs/deads day they last years

For wide stance squats Chuck Taylors are the best. They are flat soled and the canvas sides allow you to push your feet out when you squat. Hence you can activate your hips more.

I always use socks! shoes come off for squats. its just feels right and IMO nike sneaker technology doesnt beat a couple hundred thousand years of evolution.

I wear DO-WIN Rogues. They're Olympic lifting shoes but have a slightly smaller heel with a wider base...

Those Nike's that Sac mentioned are WAY to pricey for me, but they are great from what I have heard, and the Chinese weightlifters used them in the 2008 Olympics.

Bump this. I went and bought a pair due to the massive amount of stress that was being put on my patellar tendon on heavy squats. Normal tennis shoes have the big heel and push me forward placing more pressure on my knees. Immediately upon changing to the asics I was able to correct my form and lean back further in my squat going deeper and hitting my hams more. My squat also went up shortly there after and continues to climb. No more knee problems either.
