i bought some natural brown rice and it takes FOREVER TO COOK, like 35 mins, i was wondering if minute brown rice has basically the same carb GI and all that. if so im picking some up.

Thanks,

Todd

I'd stick with long grain brown rice. I just stick it in a Rice Cooker and add about 1/4 more water than it calls for white rice. If you don't it won't cook long enough and rice will be crunchy.

yeah xcel i figured out you need more water last night when i had crispy rice in the bottom of my pan with no water left..lol

alright ill just add some more water and wait it out..

Thanks,

Todd

No

The GI would be different for the minute rice whether it is brown or white.
Think about it in simple terms.
Faster it absorbs water during cooking (faster cooking time)= faster it will be broken down in the stomach which in turn creates a higher GI.
More time it takes to cook means slower absorption of water (denser material)= slower time it will take to be digested in the stomach, therefore a lower GI.
Hope this helps.

mike man,

yep that pretty much answers my question and then some..thanks bro,

Todd
