I started bodybuilding when I was 19(4years ago). I rembemer I used to be able to train like 6-7days straight and never get tired. Got sore but not too tired. Then at 21 I started my first AAS cycle. I trained great then too. like 6days straight, no problem. Lately, the last year though(im 23 now) i've realized I cant trian that way anymore. I go like 3days, then need a day off. Then i'll train 1day, and sometimes need to take the next day off. This is while im on AAS and GH also. Overtime, is it normal to get burnout more and not be able to train like you used to. I've taken time off also. Like 10days every now and then to rest, but still, it wasnt the same as my first 2-3years of lifting.

YOu could be just overtraining and wearing out your CNS. Maybe you should try training EOD ? Just my opinion though. Im sure some more experienced guys will chime in and help you out some more though.

I thought it was overtraining at first too, but then I took a week off, followed by another 10days off a few weeks later. I've actually been training less than I ever have, and I still feel burnt out.

I began lifting seriously when I was about 18 and I've been at it ever since. I'll turn 35 this year and every year I wonder if I'll be able to keep going as I have in the past. IMO, it's more mental than physical.

I take a few full weeks off every year, but I always find something to motivate me and keep me going. Right now I am thinking about my company's annual trip down to Florida next month. Every year I get more and more compliments from fat and out-of-shape guys and girls who say things like, "I wish I could do what you do". And I tell them that all they have to do is commit to it, and it's 1/2 way done from that point.

Then, my motivation will be the summer and the beach. Then, looking great on Halloween, then my family Christmas trip down south. And so on...

What I'm saying is, try to find short term goals to keep you going strong. It helps me and has been my way of doing this for lots of years.

I understand what you are saying.

Improvements in muscle size, look of the body and weight lifted are GREAT motivators.

When improvements slow down or stop it is tougher to get motivated IMO.

Why not try a bubble bath :star-wars

CROWLER

I ahve faced burn out myself...been lifting since I was 12 and the most time I have ever taken off is 4 weeks...

I recently paid to have someone write up my program for me and do all the other stuff...it is good motivator, because I do not want to let down the person that wrote me up the program and is working with me. I use to do this all for myself...not impress anyone or look good for women...this is my time and no one elses...so it is important to me to get it done.

So maybe try and have someone write things up for you and that should help motivate you...I know it has me.

Curious

Did you used to play sports when you were younger?
Did you Run more?
play pick up basketball/ football?

Do you do any physical activity now other than lifting weights.

Your General Physical Preparedness (fitness level) was probably much higher if you were more active in previous years.

I was very inactive as a teen. In fact at 18years old I was 230lb over %30 b/f. Played no sports(only drag racing).

Lately, the last year though(im 23 now) i've realized I cant trian that way anymore.

You make it sound like your 60. Is your job or stress burning you out or something external outside teh gym. Im 28 been lifting heavy since I was 14 and have been employed full time since 16 and played on sports team or been in martial arts until this past New Year, and full time in college since I was 25 and never was burnt out to go to the gym. It was the one thing I always looked foward to relieve some stress.

Is something else going on in your life that may be making your intensity at the gym suffer.

its the story of my life.. haha

im feeling the same way right now man, and i have been taking more time off than usual. for the past 3 weeks or so i have been doing pretty well. just started dieting 2 weeks ago, that usually helps me get some motivation back.

good luck, if you find out the secret to stay motivated lemme know,

later,

21 is young to be using AAS... even 23. Is it possible that your HPTA may be off? If you're off axis it can make you feel burnt out. Another thing is you were training way too much. It may have seemed to be fine when you're 19 but as you get older, that just doesn't work. Still another thing can be even a mild depression. I had this exact thing happen to me but a week off (TOTALLY off) got me back up and running. But there are some things like a mock PCT you might try or a real PCT if you never did any. See your doctor and have a blood test. Glucose, thyroid, testosterone, all of it. Another thing might be to take a full month off. Start off with just 2 or 3 days a week, major movements and watch yourself closely as you increase your amount of training. You're still a young guy, you can get to the bottom of this.

Good luck. I'd hazard a guess that every BB'er on this board has felt this way at one time.
