not the carry-on bags.... but the checked in bags...

will they take it away????

They sure as hell will if u don't have a script. Family of mine works for airlines.
Could be used as a weapon. They won't even allow a damn metal nail file. They took my wife's last trip. Ud have a better shot if u put it in ur checked luggage and hope they don't find it. If they do....they'll really search all ur stuff. So b careful bro.

From the TSA's site

iabetes

Notify the Security Officer that you have diabetes and are carrying your supplies with you. The following diabetes-related supplies and equipment are allowed through the checkpoint once they have been screened:

Insulin and insulin loaded dispensing products (vials or box of individual vials, jet injectors, biojectors, epipens, infusers, and preloaded syringes;
Unlimited number of unused syringes when accompanied by insulin or other injectable medication;
lancets, blood glucose meters, blood glucose meter test strips, alcohol swabs, meter-testing solutions;
Insulin pump and insulin pump supplies (cleaning agents, batteries, plastic tubing, infusion kit, catheter, and needle); Insulin pumps and supplies must be accompanied by insulin.
Glucagon emergency kit;
Urine ketone test strips;
Unlimited number of used syringes when transported in Sharps disposal container or other similar hard-surface container.
Sharps disposal containers or similar hard-surface disposal container for storing used syringes and test strips.

Insulin in any form or dispenser must be clearly identified.

If you are concerned or uncomfortable about going through the walk-through metal detector with your insulin pump, notify the Security Officer that you are wearing an insulin pump and would like a full-body pat-down and a visual inspection of your pump instead.

Advise the Security Officer that the insulin pump cannot be removed because it is inserted with a catheter (needle) under the skin.

Advise the Security Officer if you are experiencing low blood sugar and are in need of medical assistance.

You have the option of requesting a visual inspection of your insulin and diabetes associated supplies. See the Medication section below for details.

Keep in mind in many states (Florida is one) insulins doesn't require a prescription, its OTC.

If you tell them you are diabetic it shouldnt be a problem

I dont think it would be a problem in a checked in bagage anyway

EasyEJL good post... my brother in law is a diabetic and he carries his insulin and needles with him.

It may be an issue if you have the needles but no Insulin.

Exactly correct. If you're diabetic and have a legitimate need for the pins....most airlines will require you disclose ur diabetic supplies and require proof that you are in fact diabetic. Script for needles, note from doctor, whatever.

Easy: That's all correct and good...and legit IF you are in fact diabetic and can prove it. Now, it's just a guess, but I don't think he's diabetic. ;) I don't think diabetic pins and HGH/HCG qualify as a legit combo!

I personally wouldn't risk it.....but that's me. I know a lot of bro's that do shit I wouldn't and get away with it all the time.

It doesn't say you need to show proof of diabetes.... But I agree, you would need to have insulin or another pharmaceutical injectable too (not unlabeled bottles :D). HGH actually could qualify (as my doctor would prescribe it if i'd pay his outrageous prices for it, like $10/iu), HCG does for sure as I have a prescription for it.

And this is only for carryon, checked baggage they don't care so long as there are no bombs :D you can pack a machete in checked baggage.

I've brought slin pins in carry on luggage before with no problem. They have no idea if you have insulin in checked baggage or not--there's no way for them to know. The wrappers commonly say "insulin syringe" right on them so most will assume that's what you are using them for. I suppose I have a little bit of help since I'm hypoglycemic and also carry a glucometer with test strips now, but even before I had a glucometer, I did it.

No it doesn't say you need proof, but that doesn't mean that an anal retentive TSA agent can't ask for it. They have all the power when ur going through that security line...period. Like I said...have family that works for a major airline and I hear stories all the time.

Besides....if "krnbo" had a script, I'm guessing he wouldn't be so concerned. Just an assumption though...

Lastly...I'm not sure about packing the machete though...you try it and let us know how that works out!:eek::D

I've packed the equivalent before, and since 9/11. They don't go thru checked bags unless a bomb sniff sets them off, and machetes aren't illegal. Ive had a gun in checked luggage before (has to be locked, you have to declare it, no ammo, blah blah). And like I said here in florida insulin and needles are OTC so if I were diabetic i'd have nothing to prove I was diabetic as I wouldn't need anything to purchase it. I can walk into walmart and get insulin + slin pins at the pharmacy with no question and no scrip.

You can bring them in either check-in or carry on:

" Disability-related items permitted through the security checkpoint include:

* Wheelchairs
* Scooters
* Crutches
* Canes
* Walkers
* Prosthetic devices
* Casts
* Support braces
* Support appliances
* Service animals
* Baby apnea monitors
* Orthopedic shoes
* Exterior medical devices
* Assistive/adaptive equipment
* Augmentation devices
* Ostomy supplies
* CPAP machines & respirators

* Hearing aids
* Cochlear implants
* Tools for wheelchair disassembly/reassembly
* Personal supplemental oxygen
* CO2 personal oxygen concentrators
* Tools for prosthetic devices
* Medications and associated supplies
* Braille note takers
* Slate and stylus
* All diabetes related medication, equipment, and supplies
* Any other disability-related equipment and associated supplies"

Syringes would fall under "All diabetes related medication, equipment, and supplies" Additionally, if it is just syringes and not the needles what is even the concern anyway?

You bring up a good point....unlike you, I live in a state where any pins are illegal w/o a script. Period. I'm guessing where you live plays a role.

When I was competing last year I had to take a 30min flight Ireland to England and there is no way I could of got on that jet with pins. Security even took my pump up rubber bands. We near missed the flight because of security. There must of been somthing else going down, two hours at security.

The bottom line is you can bring them on your carry on or checked. NO state can tell you now due to the fact you do not have to disclose that your a diabetic. I would love to see the airline who takes pins away then the poor guys goes into shock. Can you say lawsuit...and by the way who carries a script saying im an insulin user. Like I said carry tehm on infact tell them you have them so they do not stick there hand in a bag where neddles are and they will say thank you and not even check
