Hey guys, been a few months or so.
Just had my semi-annual bloodwork and my cholesterol levels are too high 😢

LDL was over 200 and HDL at 45 (I think) and triglycerides were high

To be fair, I wasn't fasted so I'm sure that threw it off. So without statins, what would you guys recommend? I'm 5'8/9 195 currently and honestly not concerned with gaining size or anything. Have 2 kids and being here for them for the next 50 yrs is my #1 concern!

I want to meet my grandkids and watch them grow up!

Any dietary recommendations? Things to avoid?

Thanks in advance!!!

Do you have a family history of high cholesterol?

How’s your diet? Do any cardio? What drugs you using?

Clean up your diet, consume more healthy fats, cut out sugar, take a fiber supplement.

I'm on 200mg/week of doc prescribed Test Cyp

I do cardio - 30-40 minutes in the morning walking my German Shepherd and then head to the gym and lift. Then walk on treadmill 10 incline at 3.5mph for 10-15min

Diet isn't the greatest tbh. I have a sweet tooth and know I need to cut them out completely. If the sweets were gone, my diet would be considerably better than 85% of the population

Family does have a history of high cholesterol

Sugar is my downfall

I'd be more concerned with your HDL-triglyceride ratio, rather than your LDL-C. Even then, the functionality of cholesterol efflux - reverse cholesterol transport is more important than the numerical value of HDL.

If you wasn't fasted, your trigs will be higher than non fasted.

I had mine checked on 6/28/18 and total was at 228. Eliminated sugar, drinking mean green juice 2-3 times a day, eat 6 tart cherries on empty stomach right before bedtime. On 10mg TC a day and 2ius gh. Checked my cholesterol as I was donating blood on 7/19/18 and it was at 195. I’ll be checking it again in September.

I'll make sure I'm fasted next time for sure. May order a panel myself and make sure I'm fasted for my own knowledge

My cholesterol a couple years ago was 315 when I had a stress test, doc told me it was hereditary and put me on 10 mgs of Crestor, I only take 1-10mg tab every three days and it seems to do the trick.
Not sure why people here are so afraid of statins.
