I was watching some videos on youtube last night and got into what I call "youtube oblivion" in which you click on a video in the feed and watch it and there are 10 more like it repeat (bodybuilding videos)
This 37 minute video most may find boring but I thought it was fascinating because I can see all those images in muscle and fitness magazine rtc when growing up of all the stars there. We didn't have videos and this one is kinda a reality one Ric Drasin just went around filming randomly at the time.

Everything from Mike Christian, Samir Bannout, young Vic Richards, Rick Valente (from bodyshaping) even a big scene when Hulk Hogan and Mr T were being filmed at a Gold's Gym for "The A-Team" episode TV series.

There are tons of older vids on there - everything from American Muscle Magazine to older contests like the Mr Olympia.

This one is a bit more organized - circa 1990 Superstars of Bodybuilding.

I find it really funny how ridiculous their clothing looks to me now. That was the style back then though

This is the other one from the late 80's that's probably the most well known, The Battle for Gold. I remember when it aired on the Discovery channel. I have a VHS copy of it.

I do not wish I was 55 or 60...(hell 31 feels old sometimes-and sometimes I am uncertain about this generations opportunity in this world these days) but I do wish I was around Venice, CA during this era.

Really was the "Golden Era" no doubt about it. The end of the 80's and early 90's is when I was watching these guys....it is what inspired me to be a gym rat....along with the Conan and stallone movies:)

Richards could've become one of the top 5 bodybuilders of all time if he had kept at it.

I think Mike Christian had all the potential in the world. Had cocaine not taken hold of him, he could have brought up his legs and then added a little more every mass everywhere and been Mr Olympia!

Richards had more potential than Christian in my opinion.
