Frank Shamrock almost NEVER gases... infact, his cardio is freaking out of this world.

Is Shamrocks knee still messed up? I know he said he fought Baroni with a torn ligament. If he's healthy, he should win. I think he's smart enough not to stand with Cung Le. Shamrock by submission...

...i watched the fight and it was a total brawl!!! i loved every minute of it and it is a shame that shammy couldn't continue...Cung Le is a straight bad-ass tho and hopefully he makes a good champ!!

That was an amazing fight...I can't believe Shamrock tried to stand up with him. Big mistake...I wish it went the distance. It was definitely one of the best fights I've seen in MMA

So Shamrock decides not to take Cung Le to the ground? Anyone else think that's a bit of a work? He fights a regarded kickboxing champion for the belt and decides not to use his formidable ground and submission game?

Am I the only one who thinks that fight would've ended in the first or second round if staying champion was really important to Frank? I'll admit that it is entirely possible that Frank only planned on standing for the first few rounds and then finishing Le on the ground but it seems a bit disingenuous to essentially spar with an old sparring partner and call it a championship fight.

I'm not taking anything from Le. Any man who can break another man's arm like that is an animal, no doubt. I just get the feeling that win-or-lose, the fight was staged just to set up the rematch and sell out another venue.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing Frank and Cung fight more. I think Elite and Strikeforce did a good job putting together a nice card if the CSAC hadn't screwed them on Diaz, it would've been a lot better.

Nobody worth a shit in MMA is that one dimensional. Le trains BJJ and wrestling in addition to his San Shou. He's been known for his spectacular take downs in SS.. Frank also had to be concerned with his ACL on the ground. Watching the fight, it really wasn't a bad gameplan. He just got countered by a better one from Le.

I also read somewhere that Frank thought to get inside the kicks and take advantage of his heavier hands since Le normally fights at lighter weight classes

I was shocked to see Frank try to Stand with Le... I think it was a HORRIBLE gameplan.

Frank said that he was working on his stand up... well apparently he needs work more...

I lost $50 on this one... but oh well, you win some you lose some.

That was a great fight. It was not a work. Shamrock got his arm broke for heavens sake. I think Frank is limited on his shooting ability, because he is basically fighting without an ACL in his knee that he damaged before the Baroni fight. anyways, 2 great fighters went at it, someone had to lose. good show.

Totally agree. I'm not saying the fight was fixed. I'm saying that Shamrock would greatly benefit from Elite/Strikeforce putting on a great show and that I believe that he intended to stretch out the fight with his standup game before beating Cung Le. Obviously, it didn't work out for him but still worked out great for the organization and the sport in general.
