had triceps tendon repair help needed on workout

had triceps tendon repair surgery this past friday. it was 70% torn had to use a splice to reconnect to elbow with screws and anchor. Anyone had this surgery? What limits will i have, if any, on beaching or triceps workout. I tore while benching. Help please.

What did the Doctor say to do?

I did the exact same thing. drilled two holes through the elbox and pulled the tendon through and secured. Took about 3 months to be able to lift with any confidence, 4 months to push moderate weights, 6 months to push it hard. i have some mild atrophy in that tricep, and a little more difficulty contracting it, but I still pound it like I did before I hurt it. but you have to work back up and be smart. reverse grip pushdowns with light weights was the best rehab for it, and also the most painful. I lost about 2 inches on my arm after the surgery, but they came back within 8-9 months...

i have not talked to dr since surgery but he talked to my wife and told her the tendon had snapped back 7" and he could not pull it back to reattach it to the elbow. he said he had to attach a synthetic material to the tendon and then attach the material to the elbow. my question, if it is synthetic material how in the hell is it going to reattach to the bone? am i missing some thing here? i will ask him this at my next appt which is next week but until then does any one know the answer to this question?

I have had to have both the left and right repaired over the last 5 years or so.The first (left) happened while benching at the time the doc told me to expect the right to go eventually as well. I was out for over a year before I started training again.Eight months after I was back in the gym I was close to weights I was using prior to the rupture and damn if the right didn't rupture! The right was repaired at by a sports med doc and made a world of difference on my recovery time. I was back in the gym lifting light at 4 months. Lifting heavy again in 9 months. I at one time prior to ruptures had a raw paused bench of 535, now I go up to 405 for some working sets maybe once a month.I use alot of pre exhaust on chest before I do any pressing movements. I have actually gained alot of quality muscle since the injuries.
My tri's are much weaker now on isolation movements. The tendons have become inflamed with tendonitis and I have had to back off for weeks at a time(this is the primary cause of the original ruptures).

I had the same surgery with my bicep tendon.I was benching around 550 at the time. Its been 4 years since the surgery and if i go as high as 405 my arm gets a numbing feeling so i dont bench over 315 but i do alot of reps.Just an adjustment i had to make.
