Anybody got any news about other countries wanting to help the good ol USA with Hurricane relief? We help everybody else out so now is the time they need to get onboard.

Very true. But we could not honestly expect any different. Some are stepping up though, well at least one. I spoke w/ my girlfriend in Australia yesterday, she is in medical school in Melbourne. They were collecting money yesterday at school for "the homeless Americans" as she put it. She gave $100. So kudos to Oz, greatly appreciated. That's all I have heard though. GW has charged his father and Clinton with the responsibility of soliciting funds.

Many countries have offered aide! Keyword is "offered"!

Bush should be like.."WHAT?!...fuckers yall owe me money! Pay up now!"

Countries should not have to call and offer. They should just go ahead and plan to take action. Arrange to have the aide sent and simply say thank you for all the help the U.S. has provided in the past!

On the other hand, I have no doubts that Bush will not call upon much of the aide due to fear of losing an iota of "Powerhouse" status! We thrive on being the most powerful nation on the planet!

I feel for all the people who lost loved ones, there homes & property & such due to Katrina & I myself have given to a charity for their help...way down here in little New Zealand. Thats right we're supporting as best we can with Red Cross donations etc

WE'VE GOT OUR OWN PROBLEMS TO DEAL WITH." when in fact if people do their research into history over the past few decades, it's the US that actually cause the problems in the countries that they end up giving aid to.

I'm not trying to minimise what has happened with Katrina, it's truly a tragady. But please people it's not all about America! More people die every day in third world countries from fammin (sp?) & sickness but no one ever mentions them do they!!

We as a country are a caring and generous people - but as a nation, we are not.

The United States has gone from being the largest CREDITOR nation to BEING THE LARGEST DEBTOR NATION IN 5 YEARS TIME. We owe money to nearly every country, and they know we can never reasonably pay it off. Hell, we owe China nearly $50 Billion.

And, remember the $10 Million that Bush promised for Tsunami aid? That money is still "pending" as a governmental budgetary item. In other words, we screwed them over at their time of need.

Fact is, on a global scale we are so unpopular because of Bush's policies that I'd be suprised to see any nation offering even condolences to us. If anyone doubts this, I beg you to go to a newsstand and buy a newspaper from England - the UK Guardian, London Times, etc. You'll see how the world views us.

Finally, FEMA budgeted $60 Million to Louisiana and the Mississippi gulf region in 2000 for relief efforts in case of a hurricane. Guess what happened to that $? Bush went to war and spent the money. Bush considers these deaths to be collateral damage. Americans sacrificed themselves to aid the war effort. What's wrong with that? Everything!

Are you telling me Bush is not a tyrant? He is not TRYING to be the absolute ruler of the world? He thinks he is the fucking world police as it is.

Yes... we might still be "powerful" but we are not a super power. If China pulled the plug on the US then we would fall. China alone could wipe our ass out in a war -they have the same technology and WAY more troops.
Then you have to factor in the fact that Bush has spread our military so thin we wouldnt have a leg to stand on.
