How much can the CNS really handle?

Thanks!

"How you feel is a lie, and feeling bad isn’t always an excuse for staying home." I like this line in the article!!

The days I let myself believe that it's heavy, it's heavy! The days when I go into it with the mind set that it's going up no matter what it does!!!

This is an awesome article... Very true... I can relate to this because I am a balls out lifter every time I hit the gym. Its metallica and disturbed in the headphones. Sometimes it is very easy for me to think myself into overtraining when I'm feeling like shit I want to blame it on the heavy benchs heavy squats etc. but in actuality it can be anything in your typical day that is stressing you out whether it be stress with bills(my number one) girlfriend or just whatever we encounter everyday.. I do believe there is a line where you need a break from lifting heavy or from the gym period and just be human for a few days but the Main topic of this article is Yes, you can think yourself into overtraining. Most of the Really driven people are the ones who actually are into overtraining zone dieting bodybuilders or atheletes getting ready for contest. When it all boils down to though one thing we should always remember is "mind over matter"...

Very interesting, however I think I see some contradiction. He wants us to adapt what adapts the muscles themselves (the CNS), and suggests that increased volume is the answer. I would argue (and he seems to agree about muscles) that it is intensity not volume that causes adaptation, thus the object would be to demand more of the CNS during short bursts (more intensity, less volume) in order to stimulate this adaptation.

Besides that, he may be correct about increased frequency being OK for the CNS, but there are other types of overtraining. There is the theory that adaptation happens AFTER repair. There is also overtraining in the form of tendon and joint issues.
