I was just Prescribed TESTIM gel-Help??

So i was just prescribed Testim gel that comes at 5g per tube/30tubes(one months supply).
About me.... Im almost 31 years old.....Have run about 6 cycles over the last 8 years(Last cycle was almost 3 yeasr ago. test E.500mg and deca300mg a week). All previous cycles were very low dose(EX.sust250 week-10weeks, winniV alone 200mg a week 8 weeks). Also last cycle i ran nolva/aroma pct.

So, i just got my blood test back and my test was 150. I had blood work done less then a year ago and it was 260. I also want to note that my job is very physcial and has become extremely worse. I have injuries that require me to take pain meds because i cant take the time off work to heal correctly. So i have made the decision with my wife for us to sell our house(i know, try not to laugh)so i can get myself into a better job(i actually want to go back to school for physical therapy).
Also my wife is 35 and im 30 and we both want children ASAP.
So, to get to my main question, my doc. just prescribed me testim and i just want to get to a normal level. I have all the symptoms of someone with low test. What can i expect with this topical gel?? And Even more Important how will it effect my wife and i getting pregnant?? thanks!

i used testim(prescribed) for about 6months,it got me well over the normal range but it also gave me estrogenic side effects almost right away,,sore nipples,slight gyno etc..i never had that problem before on inj and oral steroids...not sure why,dr said it just worked well for me,anyway,my opinion ,its a pain to rub it on every day,it kinda smells and i personally didnt like it.
i wanted injections instead...
as far as getting her pregnant i have no idea but i would think if you mentioned that maybe they would of added hcg??? im sure someone else can help ya with that

The doc. said it would help us as far as getting prego which is the most important issue for me and my wife right now. Id hate it if it shut me down for some reason.
That sucks you got gyno symptoms. Im Prone to gyno to. shit... What to do what to do?! I do have letro on hand though.
I just want to get my test back into some normal range so i can feel better and my wife and i can get prego. Because once we sell our house and i can get out of this damn job thats killing me everyday(i know i shouldnt complain and i never really do because alot of people cant even get a job right now but if its starting to cause serious health probelms i just have no choice) things will get better without a doubt.

Testim gel works BUT… tell your doctor that you and wife are trying to get pregnant. You have to be super, super careful not to transfer some of the testosterone to your wife through contact or contamination. Not a good idea when trying to conceive. Under your circumstances I would prefer injects for safety.

I understand the importance of being careful not to get any on her. My worries are that she is Not prego yet but we want to be asap. Doc. said it wont hurt our chances. Anyone have problems of infertility when using this gel??

I wouldn't think it would since you are actually delivering a low dose of testosterone with this method.

Thats what im hoping but ive read so many conflicting experiences. Maybe i better sleep on it tonight and apply tomorrow after more research. I want to feel better but dont want to jeopordize our chances of getting prego. soon!

I think thats gonna be the next step for my wife and I. Her doctor has put her on Clomid but the problem is that when she is ovulating im just not in the mood, and it seems like that "window of time" is always one day. Its so frustrating because i know the MAIN problem is my job. Last vacation i had, it was about day 6 i started feeling better, like my old self, and then after one day at work it was like i never went on vacation.... But ill get my count checked and get back with you!!!

Yep, my biggest problem right now. Just imagine going to the gym 5 days a week but staying there 10-14 hours and never stopping. And having to lift with bad form and deal with aholes all day. Ever since the economy went to shit alot has changed, but thats a whole other discussion.

A good fertility doc will set you straight. If the doc is not an endocrinologist or specializes in fertility go elsewhere. Not many understand how it feels to not be able to have children. Be honest with doc and dont take any other items until after getting pregnant. The side affects of supps are bad enough but we take the risk. To put an innocent baby at risk is not right. I went through the same thing but was not prescribed test. To see that he prescribed the testosterone makes me wonder. I was prescribed things to get my sperm production up again after I fkd it up. feel free to pm me and I will tell you more if you wish. My endo was in Philly.

I have been on testim. Actually my endo told me I would have to get off it and actually not take any test if trying to get the wife pregnant. When the time came to tell him and he would start me on hcg, hmg and or clomid. Taking test reduces chances.

I can tell you this, I've never had a Gyno Flair up like this before and I've only been on Testin for two weeks. My shits swollen and hurts like hell.....

my experience as well.Obviously, this delivery method causes more aromatization and DHT conversion.I have read this and now believe it to be true.
These endos have a hard on for these gels.I am gonna pretty much demand injects next appointment.
I am also on 2 tubes per day.

Well, my family physician has been prescribing mine.... I didn't want me to go to a endo for some reason...

I dont know what your doc is knows/thinks regarding the gel helping you get the wife pregnant. As far as libido, sure it willl help you have more sex. But it does nothing for your fertility IMO. Test has even been tried as a contraceptive in men! It is suppressive as far as I know.

Other options for fertility and raised test levels are:

Some endo's use clomid therapy + and Aromatase inhibitor to limit estrogen. This should raise your actual sperm count and test levels together.

Or. hCG + an AI if there's a problem with your pituitary and clomid doesn't work. Again, raising your natural test and sperm count as long as you use it.

After your wife is pregnant, and you no longer care about sperm count, you could switch back to the gel or injections.
