I was over at 'bolex reading a good thread about contest prep
and it ended up saying get a hold of Big A or Ry Roid! Anyways the thread left me hanging. They had some great pre-contest diet info and were talking somewhat around the dos and don'ts of diuretics. They said that there are 2 diurectics that are not banned by IFBB (and of course they were the best 2), but did not say what they were (they did say to stay away from Lasix). Can anyone here enlighten me.
While it has seemed to be ages since I've competed, I'm still enamored by pre-contest stuff. Who knows - I may give it another go in the old mans, I mean "elders" class

I find Lasix pretty effective also, when used responsibly.

Thanks bros, knew you'd come through!
As you can probably tell, I've never used diuretics. I know "what" they're used for (just prior to contest to get rid of water under skin).
Can anyone elaborate on "proper" Lasix usage - timing, amounts, what to and not eat eat & do with water, etc.?

If you choose to use Lasix, only use the injectible, not the oral. The oral is too unpredictable, and due to the nature of the drug, you can't afford to do that.
Inj Lasix comes in 2ml amps, 20mg/amp. You inject the whole amp, IM (IV is even better but too freaky for me). Within 15 min after the inj, you will start pissing, It will stop 45 min later. See if you need anothere shot. Probably yes. Repeat. That should be enough.
Now, here comes the individual part. After the use of a diuretic, your muscles and vascular system get depleted first. Then your subq water. Also, after several hours (that is the individual thing) the water starts returning. First in the muscles and vascular system, then subq. So basically, you want to time it such a way, that when you walk on stage, you are in the time after the return of the water in the muscles and veins, but before it returns subq. That is individual, so you have to practice.
Used this way, there is zero danger to using Lasix.

Lasix and Aldactone
Here is a question for those in know. Does it make any sence to run say aldactone for 5-7 days before show, then use lasix if need, night before. Here is my concern aldactone will rid body of sodium which is kinda good and kinda bad, not enought sodium and you can't get pumped look flat etc.. too much you end up holding water. Anybody have any input on this type of thing?
BTY - Listen to big A on lasix, i didn't last year and ending up holding water like a SOB.

If you can get your hands on Aldactone, that is ideal. You use that for the last week before the show and then something stronger like Lasix the day before.

That's a laugh....The only way to get your hand on a copy is to subscribe (I have not seen it at the newstands)...And considering how late it was for the first issue, I would not send them a dime!
(They probably gave all copies of the latest issue away at the Arnold)
It reminds me of my subscription to PEAK TRAINING JOURNAL...I think I received 2 issues....
