LIGHTER FLUILD SMELL ??

In the hood there is this strong smell of lighter fluid smell coming from someones house...there isn't any hot dogs being cooked. What are they making ???? What sucks is this a very good neighborhood 'theres 3 doctors on this street.Not up on the rec drugs...any help would be appreciated....have 2 boys...and if there is exsplosive hazard I would like to know.

Crystal meth, probably. that fucking drug has all kinds of poisonous shit in it and it would not suprise me if that is what it is. if there are kids in the neighborhood i would report the smell to the police or health dept let them investigate. tank...

They could possibly be making methamphetamine and you could be smelling the ether or anhydrous. The use all kids of nasty stuff to make it. Ether(car starting fluid), anhydrous ammonia, lithium batteries, drain cleaner, ect. I'd call your PD as the "labs" are very dangerous and could catch fire or explode.

I agree with you Phil, but most likely if they are making meth, they will either not stop or just move and set up shop somewhere else. Meth addicts are in a league of their own -- just look at the guy that ran over all those people in Las Vegas. And, here is a story that just happened here in CA:

Man to enter plea in girl's slaying
William Orren Dawes was charged Thursday in the murder of his 11-year-old niece.

SANTA ANA – A man accused of fatally stabbing his 11-year-old niece as she slept in the family's Laguna Niguel condominium is scheduled to make his first court appearance today to enter a plea to a charge of murder.

William Orren Dawes, 26, who is due in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana, also was charged with personal use of a deadly weapon in the death of Sonia Gabriela Mandujano-Dawes.

The girl was found early Wednesday morning by her grandmother, bleeding and unresponsive in her bed in the Casa La Paz condominium complex where Dawes was staying since his release from jail on a drug conviction last month.

Sonia was admitted to the emergency room at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center at 1:17 a.m. and pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m., Deputy Supervising Coroner Rod Thomas said.

Dawes fled was but later detained by Irvine police. He had a 12-inch knife in a sheath and reportedly told investigators, "This is my sword."

Dawes, who is being held without bail at the Orange County Jail, also is alleged to have a prior strike for an assault with a deadly weapon conviction in 1999, according to the charges.

Dawes was sentenced to 90 days in jail on Dec. 20 for a drug conviction and probation was scheduled to end when he was released.

However, on June 17 he was sentenced in Santa Ana to another 90 days in jail on a drug charge and placed on three years formal probation, until Jan. 19, 2008, the court clerk said.

I could really care less if people use drugs or whatever, but if it puts me in harms way I would be forced to do something -- especially since there are children in the house.

phil i like your thoughts on this, however these people that are cooking/doing methamphetamines are nutz. so i had a little better idea that i only got through reading your post.

how about a letter inside their mailbox, anonymous.. that way you dont have to worry about them retailating on your or your family.

I'm just want to know what I'm up agaist,so I can keep the kids clear...thats what I'm really worried about.Don't need to point fingers as he isn't to smart,several neighbors where outside complaining about the smell,next time they said they are going to call fire dept. Plus 1 state trooper lives 3 doors down the side st. another up 1 block and a retired Lt. from the local police dept lives 10 houses up the street...and runs. So I 'm just going to sit back and watch

damn they are stupid!! but some people just don't give a rats ass and are going to make money any way they can.. i have a friend that just got out of prison maybe a year ago and had a good job and was shift foreman and quit to start selling crack again, i asked him why and he just said the streets keep calling me back...WTF? some people really don't give a shit about nothing!

The right call

The right call to make is the fire dept....because they have to respond when called,once they locate the smell they can enter with out your permission(public saftey)...once inside they can ask for police assistance...No search warrent needed...Our fire dept watches out for these labs...Phil I forgot to tell you I saw one of the Hell's angels go in there...so no I'm not going to knock on there door...just going to sit back and watch.

Well, I know when I lived in Vermont speed was nonexistant, herion well, that is another story. Lower East Coast has pretty major issues with meth from what I understand.

However, the HA's traffic is highly suspecious. I would just keep your kids away from that place, but that is just me.
