7:30 (breakfast) - 8oz of black coffee, no sugar ($0.25)

9:30 (snack) - A glass of tap water (free)

12:30 (lunch) - Stop at Subway and get a footlong tuna sub, eat half of it, save half for dinner ($5.33 after taxes)

3:30 (snack) - A glass of tap water (free)

7:00 (dinner) - The other half of the Subway tuna sandwich that was sitting in the truck all day.

Total - $5.58, and that's all I can afford nowadays. Being honest here, guys, it's this bad... Fridge has a 2 year old bottle of aloe vera juice and ONE lemon... And I work 6-7 days a week, every week.

Sincerely,

Alex.

It's hard to listen to someone cry poverty when he has a computer and an internet connection.:p

LOL

THATS SOUNDS LIKE A BUDGET TO ME!!:D HEH EVERYBODY LETS TRY THE SUBWAY DIET... I somthing similar like 5 years ago... lol! go for it... ltake some before and after pics.... you might came up with somthing....

While it sounds like your financial situation sucks and I hope things get better for you, you could eat much better than you are with the amount of money you are spending per day. Buy ground beef, tins of tuna, oatmeal, rice, and bananas. Lots of whatever is on sale. You could get 5-6 solid meals out of that stuff for $5.58 pretty easily. I lived off roughly $6/day on food for years when I was younger and poor as hell. It sucked, but I didn't starve.

Computer and internet are way cheaper than food and gas. I spent 150 bucks in gas this week only.
Then maybe you should consider Phil's cycle that he using before the '95 USA's:

Yes, it sucks. I run a small business and I charge my clients on their credit cards. I was using paynet.com to do the credit card processing. I do the same type of transaction every month, at the same day of the month, same amount. Paynet.com decided that my account would be under investigation until December and they literally stole 8000 bucks from me until the end of the year, I have to pay my employees and my bills. Now I'm out of 8G out of nowhere... Really broke... Sorry about the rant, but I'll be happy if this post saves some small business owner from the same fate.
BTW, you say when you were younger... Things were what? 200-300% cheaper than now? I saw a gallon of milk for $7.29 a few days ago. Thanks for the tips anyway...

Too late, been there, done that. I had a small business generating $60,000 a month. Now, because of the housing crisis, almost bankrupt. Welcome to the real world:D But, I am trying to convince myself I am happy even though I am broke. Yea, right! It sucks!!:D

That's a rough situation, man. I hope things improve for you. It was actually 4-5 years ago and the price of food and gas in the USA is just now catching up to what it's been like here for years. For reference the price of a gallon of milk 5 years ago was $6.70 here and it's been over 7 for a couple years now. Gas is currently selling for $5.50 a gallon here and its been $4+ for years. So we are talking a 5-10% difference in food costs, tops.

Ok, I've been broke as fuck before....so here's the question if you had 6 bucks a day to eat what would you eat??

When I was this broke I was eating mostly ramen noodles, ground beef and eggs. I guess now I would probably get some oatmeal as well. I think you could probably squeeze out a cheap tub of protien somehow and at least have a shake a day. I have a tub of Dymatize Elite that I paid 32.99 and its 35 servings at 48gms.

So for a dollar a day you can slam a shake and toss some oatmeal in it.

1lb of Ground beef is around 4.00 you can split that into two meals

a box of noodles or a bag or rice is pretty cheap.

There you go, 3 decent meals for 6.00 day

I lived off white bread, penut butter, and milk for around a year when I was 19. I still managed to throw on some good weight. It had good proteins, fats, and carbs.

Sorry, but where is "here"?

$7.29 a gallon of milk? That's outrageous! You must live in Hawaii or NYC wher prices are rediculous. Here its $2.59 a gallon. Gas prices are out of this world though, as high as $4.30 a gallon or more.

Oats $2

Beef $1.99 lb

If you spent $2 on oats and $8 on beef you could still be getting about 1/2 pound of beef everyday and 2 cups of oats everyday for an entire week for $10.

Ride a bike to work..Take the gas money savings and buy you some food

Ok so times are rough as it is for everyone, but you have basically 40-50 a week for food....bro that is way more then enough to get better food then your doing. First start by getting a card to sams club or any warehouse of your choice. then take your 50 dollars and invest in a case of tuna and the mega box of rice.

I just looked at sams club and a 10 pack of tuna is 7.02 and the 72oz of white rice is 5 dollars.

so pick up 40 cans of tuna for 28.00 and 2 boxes of rice 10.00 leaves you 12.00 dollars left over so you can get some ground beef or whatever your taste buds desire.

So you can eat 2 cans with a cup of rice which is 600 cal. meals, do this three times a day. 1800 cals a day which is better then subway tuna.

Thoughts????

Computer and internet are way cheaper than food and gas. I spent 150 bucks in gas this week only.

While that may be true from an accounting standpoint this makes no sense to me. If food were a bigger priority you'd stop paying for internet and put that extra money towards food. Clearly that isn't the case.
