I have been out of the gym for over a year now due to injuries and was recently given to "ok" to work out again from my doc. I've had various knee injuries and had a torn shoulder capsule that was repaired about 5 weeks ago.
Needless to say I am very out of shape.
My doctor said I could start working out and could lift as much as I want as long as I am able to handle the weight for 3 x 20.
It has been two weeks now and while I am weak, it feels good to be back in the gym, however...
I was doing deadlifts with very, very light weight. The first two sets went fine. I started my third set and on the 5th rep, I felt 3 or 4 "pops" down my lower back. I think the tempo was a bit too fast and I may have broken form...but I was using basically no weight at all.
Immediately there was an intense pain in my lower back. After about 5 minutes it wasn't as bad, but still pretty sore. 5 hours later its still pretty sore.
Has anyone ever had this happened before?
